This is a very strange comment. Somewhat of a backhanded compliment even.Renaixença wrote:Yale just took a hit to let you in! They must really like you! Congrats!lawyering wrote:IN!!!!! Oh. my. god.

+1, thx crackberry! but I choose not to take offense at the implication, I'm in too good of a mood right nowcrackberry wrote:This is a very strange comment. Even if it was intended as a backhanded compliment, I don't get it. Was the comment supposed to be a reference to Lawyering's numbers? Lawyering's LSAT is above Yale's 25th percentile and her GPA is above the 75th percentile. Over a quarter of last year's admits had worse LSAT scores while very few had better GPAs.crackberry wrote:This is a very strange comment. Agreed, live it up tonight (and for the rest of the semester/summer)! I've seen some pretty strange posts from this Renaixenca character, so I wouldn't give much consideration to his/her comments.lawyering wrote:+1, thx crackberry! but I choose not to take offense at the implication, I'm in too good of a mood right nowcrackberry wrote:This is a very strange comment. Especially considering a 171 is probably only one LSAT question different from their 173 median.CardinalRules wrote:I think that the poster was making the superficial observation that her LSAT was below Yale's median. The comment was in somewhat poor taste, but I wouldn't take it too seriously.
Great avatar, crackberry; I've always liked that best about you. (My forehanded compliments are okay, but I feel that my backhanded ones are always where I've excelled.)crackberry wrote:This is a very strange comment. By M, do you mean me?Kronk wrote:Hey M, what kind of softs did you have? I'm just curious, as you pretty much swept everything on the first day they were making calls and you're right from undergrad. Know your numbers rock, but still. Just wondered.

No, it's OK. I'll PM you with the softs. Just for the record, I got Stanford on the second day that they made calls, not the first day, and I was in the January rather than December group for YLS.Kronk wrote:Sorry, yes. Didn't you have to wait awhile on Berkeley?CardinalRules wrote:No, it's OK. I'll PM you with the softs. I had to wait forever on Berkeley but did get in via administrative review (Dean Tom). FWIW, I didn't write a Berkeley-specific PS or a 4-page PS, didn't have any worthwhile work experience, and generally disregarded all of the personal preferences that Dean Tom discusses in his article on this forum. Some of those factors could have contributed to the wait.Dignan wrote:

I agree, I like tomhobbes. He apparently feels I am unworthy of forehand compliments though.Kronk wrote:tbf, tomhobbes is f'ing hilarious and the originator of Violent Centaur Entourages.crackberry wrote:This thread has basically deteriorated (improved?) to a point where the six or seven of us (Kronk, CardinalRules, tomhobbes, Dignan, BioE and myself plus Kretzy sometimes) come to pontificate and make fun of each other. Hey, I don't mindcrackberry wrote:This thread has basically deteriorated (improved?) to a point where the six or seven of us (Kronk, CardinalRules, tomhobbes, Dignan, BioE and myself plus Kretzy sometimes) come to pontificate and make fun of each other. And we only sometimes talk about Yale.
Really? I remember trying to find the In at Yale thread the other day and having to scroll through like 6 pages before I found it. I think the last post was like Feb. 20 or something.BioEBear2010 wrote:Hey, I don't mindcrackberry wrote:This thread has basically deteriorated (improved?) to a point where the six or seven of us (Kronk, CardinalRules, tomhobbes, Dignan, BioE and myself plus Kretzy sometimes) come to pontificate and make fun of each other. And we only sometimes talk about Yale.Seriously, though, I think that's just the nature of the Yale thread. Not that many people get accepted to Yale in the first place, and a large proportion of those who do choose not to use TLS. Ergo, not many people to ask questions/talk about Yale. The majority of the YLS questions go in the In at Yale and Yale 2013 threads, too.
And the Violent Centaur Entourage thing cracks me up!
