Did you just get the email today?
I got the same email, assuming Reserve = WL. I was put on "reserve."
Given my stats, this is as far as I'll get I think... Oh well!
Awkward.... tried to join the Reserve list, and they told me I couldn't.... I assume the just need to update the database? Or was I supposed to be a ding?

One of my friends at HLS said that Reserve is a little different than waitlist, it's a weird limbo between accepted and waitlisted. It's basically the office saying "we like you, but not sure if we can admit you given how we are trying our class to shake up, but we also like you too much to waitlist you"
Got the reserve email today as well!

Also on reserve. Where does that rank in the accepted->waitlist hierarchy?

Would those of you put on WL/reserve today mind sharing complete and interview (if you did) dates?

No interview. I went complete in late October and hadn't heard anything since.

Do we know whether the reserve emails are coming out one by one like the acceptances or were they all sent at one time?

Sorry to bring somewhat bad news, but pretty sure Reserve is just Columbia's waitlist. They have that and hold, no other "waitlist".

Has anyone successfully joined the reserve list yet?

Yeah I just noticed that - does anyone know how many people have been accepted off of the reserve in past years?

No, the website doesn't recognize me. Someone should probably e-mail them and ask.

ehh...this might not be what you want to hear. last year on LSN, 2 people reported WL->Accepted, and ~100 reported WL->Rej or just WL
ETA BUT (anecdotally) a lot of people on LSN just change their status from WL to Accepted, so, take this with a grain of salt.

TRUE.
From Columbia:
In addition to its “admit” and “reject” decision categories, Columbia Law School maintains both “hold” and “reserve” groups of candidates.
When an applicant is placed in the hold category, the Admissions Committee has opted to postpone making a decision on his or her candidacy at the time of initial review; in other words, the Admissions Committee has not yet made a determination on the application, and it will be reviewed again by the Committee later in the admissions season. Hold category applicants can expect to receive a decision on their candidacy (admit, reserve, or reject) by the end of April.
Unlike applicants who are “wait-listed” at some law schools, candidates placed on reserve at Columbia are at no point ranked ordinally. Rather, each application on reserve is reviewed again in its entirety by the Admissions Committee on a periodic basis during the summer months, as openings in the entering class materialize. Upon each review, some candidates will be offered or denied admission, while others will be asked if they wish to remain in consideration for any future openings in the class later in the summer.
The difference between the hold and reserve categories is that the initial review process is completed for candidates placed on reserve. Reserve candidates will not be reevaluated for admission until the summer months, as openings in the entering class materialize. Applications placed on hold are still being actively reviewed by the Committee, and hold candidates should expect to receive a decision (admit, reserve, or reject) by the end of April.
So I would say for Columbia: Admit > Hold > Reserve (=Waitlist) > Reject

Reserve Group today as well. Will probably withdraw since I have to defer my acceptance for two years wherever I decide to attend anyway. Pretty sure you can't defer off the wait list. Honestly just surprised I wasn't outright dinged since nobody on law school numbers around my stats even got wait listed. Guess my personal statement and background resonated somewhat with them. Good luck to everyone else!

Anyone else still waiting for a decision that applied fairly early on? I'm Median GPA, >75th LSAT, and survived the Reserve wave. Not sure if most people like me have already received decisions by now.

Placed on reserve, was able to put myself on the reserve list on the website. No interview, complete mid-October.
