I got an email this morning from Duke inviting me to a Law Admissions Road Show panel with the deans of Duke, SLS, and NYU. Did anyone else get the same or attend one of these in the past? I don't think I was invited just for stopping by at their LSAC Forum table because my friend did not get the invite. Is it worth going?
Hi! I got the same email. Decided that I'm going to go...not sure what it will be like, but it couldn't hurt

Thanks for the insight! I RSVPd as well. I felt like the LSAC Forum was really helpful in making personal connections with the adcomms, so meeting the deans of my top choices at this small panel sounds awesome!gobears!! wrote:I got the email as well and attended a similar event during the 2013-2014 cycle. Its just a general panel and depending on the amount of attendees, you may be able to introduce yourself to one of the Deans. If you have the time, it wouldn't hurt to go. But they wont hold it against you for not going.frazzledandbedazzled wrote:maracuya wrote:Hi everyone,

A lot of the invitation selection is based off of CRS on LSAC. If your friend didn't choose North Carolina as a place of interest, they may have just not gotten a similar email for that reason.

I went to theirs in DC-- It was really basic information and not really helpful for someone who was about to apply or already had applied, but I'm not about to miss a chance for any sliver of insight into the mind of Dean Deal (Stanford). I hadn't given Duke a ton of consideration before because of location, but I really liked the vibes of Dean Hoye and I'm considering using my PT now. Also they all seem like besties and its cute. Dean Deal and Dean Kleinrock were passing notes to each other and giggling <3maracuya wrote:Thanks for the insight! I RSVPd as well. In the end I got free food and it can never hurt to go, but don't expect much.

I suspected as much, but you're right, any sliver of insight into Stanford's black box, and even fodder for Why X school essays make it worth going.bamb00zled wrote: I went to theirs in DC-- It was really basic information and not really helpful for someone who was about to apply or already had applied, but I'm not about to miss a chance for any sliver of insight into the mind of Dean Deal (Stanford). Also, super n00b question, but what does PT mean in the context of Duke apps?

PT stands for Priority Track. Duke uses CRS to invite some applicants to apply PT which means two great things:maracuya wrote:I suspected as much, but you're right, any sliver of insight into Stanford's black box, and even fodder for Why X school essays make it worth going.bamb00zled wrote: I went to theirs in DC-- It was really basic information and not really helpful for someone who was about to apply or already had applied, but I'm not about to miss a chance for any sliver of insight into the mind of Dean Deal (Stanford). 1. They waive your application fee
2. They guarantee to give you an admission decision within 10 days of your application being complete
If you have been invited you should definitely apply PT, and if you haven't some people have successfully solicited PT invites by emailing them. Let them know your LSAC # and your GPA/LSAT and be ready to tell them why you want to apply to Duke. If you show interest they seem quite likely to give out PT.

Oh snap, that's awesome. I'm waiting for my October score so hopefully I'll be invited for PT after it's released. Thanks, guys!QuentonCassidy wrote: PT stands for Priority Track. Duke uses CRS to invite some applicants to apply PT which means two great things:

Apparently today is grey day, so hopefully you will have some great news to email Duke about for a PT invite!maracuya wrote:

FOR REAL. I think it was given by the law firm hosting the session, so don't get your hopes up too high in other cities. We had crudites, hummus, cheese, crackers, fruit, and dessert. It was glorious.
Possibility of information and possibility of food. Go.

hahahah wait I was literally sitting next to that girl. She spilled a lot of soda and kept making comments. 99% sure thats what Deans Deal and Kleinrock were giggling about...slippin_jimmy wrote:I sat kind of near the front and Dean Deal was not having it for this one girl who tried to keep participating.bamb00zled wrote:Like ships in the night...slippin_jimmy wrote:I also went, food spread was strong.
