Is this "aggressive"? UVA's cycle seems pretty reasonable compared to a few years ago when it was virtually impossible to get in without in-state or ED.

I'm looking forward to seeing (if it can ever be known) if this years idiosyncrasies are the result of a clever approach to the down cycle, or clueless fumbling in the face of a weird cycle. But I don't see anything too blatant, tbh.

Interview request last night.

Do UVA interviews mean you have a great shot at being accepted, or are they more a 50/50 just-give-the-applicant-a-chance type thing?

Maybe not. I was more going off reputation than the actual numbers so far this cycle. Still, even moderate YP is no fun for applicants (especially splitters).

People who have interviewed seem to have a high rate of acceptance.

Going off the spreadsheets (granted, not a perfect sample), it seems like just about everyone who gets interviewed is accepted, as long as their numbers are solid.

Prove that you're serious about UVA, and I think you've got it

Yep got that same email. Thought it was a WL message, but it's not.... in any case it's very bizarre. But hey, I guess it keeps UVA at the front of our minds so we don't just move on to other schools?

just got the "bear with us" aka precursor to a WL email :/ UMich sent a very similar email a few weeks ago

First I've heard from UVA in about 4+ months though so I appreciate the gesture
