Scholar in Law Award – Scholarship here at Washington University School of Law is merit based. There
are no additional forms or applications to complete to be considered for a Scholar in Law Award. All
admitted JD applicants’ files are reviewed for these scholarships by the Scholarship Committee. The
Scholarship Committee will look at an applicant’s LSAT score and undergraduate GPA. For the 2013-14
academic year the median LSAT was a 167 and the median GPA was 3.77. Scholarship decisions are sent
out starting in February and on a rolling basis. Scholarships range from $2,000 to full tuition and are
guaranteed for three years of law school as long as the student remains in good academic standing.

whaa? While that doesn't seem to be true for competitive applicants, I guess I shouldn't expect anything until Feb, if anything at all :p?

From what I was told in my interview, there's money that they knew they had before all of the tax things and there's money that they won't know about until after taxes and everything. For instance, I have received my scholarship offer (a week after my acceptance), but I was told during my interview that I might also receive a named scholarship that I won't know about until later in the year.LawsRUs wrote:Scholar in Law Award – Scholarship here at Washington University School of Law is merit based. Got my email of acceptance yesterday. I was expecting it after my interview and with my stats, but it still feels good all the same.

Considering you're below both medians, unfortunately I think it would be less than 50. Maybe wait out this cycle and retake the LSAT?heyarnold wrote:Checking in for the first time! Went complete a couple days ago.
I'm working with a 164/3.3 from a top LAC. I also have a master's degree from a top university, have considerable work/study experience abroad, and am fluent in Chinese. I'm worried to hell that I don't get accepted, since WashU is my top choice and their new D.C. clinic / china resources / environmental clinic seem like a perfect fit for me. I wrote a really focused PS, and a very solid DS--- anybody want to venture a guess as to what my chances are? i'm thinking 50/50.
Also, is anybody going to the open house at the end of February? Is it better to schedule a formal visit during a weekday, and have a more personalized session with adcomms / profs ??
I just hope I hear back fairly soon and not in mid march or something! even if it's a waitlist...

Yea unfortunately I don't think you have much of a chance right now, since you're significantly below medians.calawgrl wrote:Considering you're below both medians, unfortunately I think it would be less than 50. Waitlist seems likely based on mylsn. If you retake and increase your LSAT by even 3 points you're probably looking at $$ from WUSTL.heyarnold wrote:Checking in for the first time! Went complete a couple days ago.

I interviewed yesterday as well (reverse splitter here). My interviewer, Will, said that they typically send out decisions over email on Wednesdays and Fridays. Based on this thread, it looks like it happens more often on Friday and usually anywhere between a few days and a few weeks after the interview.

I received close to full tuition with stats slightly higher than you. If I were to guess I'd say you'll prob receive a decent scholly.theleastdiverse wrote:just interviewed yesterday... stats are 172 and 3.0X so splitter... they seem splitter friendly though.

Congratulations!! No interview??
Well, I visited in early November because I live in the area - during that visit I spoke at length with one of the ad comms, discussed why WUSTL etc, and then had a tour with Naomi and sat in on a property class - I think the visit / interview was kind of rolled into one?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Hey all, checking in!
Submitted late Monday night 1/12, received interview request today 1/15. Is an interview seen as a good sign? Has anyone been rejected yet who had an interview?
Also, something I noticed. When I scheduled the interview, it said I was interviewing with "Washington University Law School 2." Has anyone else had the 2? Does anyone know what it means? I found it kind of odd.
Finally, any good interview advice not already mentioned? Any questions I can expect to be asked, any advice for particularly good questions to ask them? Trying to think of some good ones.
Hoping for an acceptance and hope to see some of you this fall!

Of course I have questions! Was just wondering if there was anything specific they might want to hear, kind of like in a job interview. I suppose I'm thinking too far into this!
Thanks for the reply!

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
If I were you I wouldn't stress. I had my interview in person with Dean Clifford. She was super nice and it really ended up being more of a recruiting thing for them than it was a stressful thing for me. I don't even have high numbers for them (except >75 GPA) or anything like that so yeah. Just know why you want to go to law school and why you want to go there and you'll be fine. If you're nervous do some research about the school and the programs that interest you because they always like that kind of stuff. Also I didn't ask any questions at the end so if you happen to go blank I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully that helps!LadyProspero wrote: Of course I have questions!
