There are still 39 slots on the 16th, 17th, and 18th. Unless they're just there for show, I think there are some JS1 invites going out this week.

Fingers crossed. There was movement on the 18th past cycle. Hopefully more js1 and acceptances by then.LetsGoMets wrote:There are still 39 slots on the 16th, 17th, and 18th. Unless they're just there for show, I think there are some JS1 invites going out this week.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Long time lurker, first time poster. I had my JS1 a while back and asked the adcom rep something.
A Thing I Edited Out has kind of had me theorizing that the adcomms might be rethinking their goals slightly, and that the change in admissions process might have as much to do with different test score distributions (which you guys have done some great work on) as it does with demographic concerns. If I can put my mad speculator hat on, Harvard Law may be thinking about where it wants to fit on the Big-Law factory (Columbia/Penn) vs Public Interest/Clerkship(NYU/Yale) continuum.
Or maybe they got a new version of Microsoft Office that they're still getting used to.

Is it sad that I almost breath a sigh of relief when JS1 don't go out? While on one hand that means I too did not receive one, on the other hand it means another round of JS1 has not left me behind...
Conflicting emotions...
No one told me waiting could be so hard.
Conflicting emotions...

DELETED QUOTE
You could get your interviewer in trouble which in turn may not work to your advantage.
Law schools and companies in general do not like statements such as these coming from anyone but the people in command.

I think the posters who quoted daedalus' entire post should probably go ahead and delete their quote, and then let him/her decide if he wants to take down the original post.

I'll risk it. I figure this is as bad as posting interview questions. Most of what she said seemed politically scrubbed to me anyway.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Why would this have an impact on the admissions process, and the delay in JS2s at this point? If focusing on one of these paths is a conscious decision that HLS is making, I think developing clinics, hiring certain faculty, offering new streams, etc are all better ways to do so rather than admit people based on interest or goals (which I'm sure change)?daedalus2309 wrote:...If I can put my mad speculator hat on, Harvard Law may be thinking about where it wants to fit on the Big-Law factory (Columbia/Penn) vs Public Interest/Clerkship(NYU/Yale) continuum.
Thanks for the info, and fwiw I would probably remove the quote except for your speculation part, although I'm typically overly cautious.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I was bored at work and decided to do some searching through this thread.
So far, there have been 7 waves of JS1s offered (this is based on information from this thread when people post that they receive a JS1 - there are obvious limitations to this method):
Also, except for November 16th to 22nd, we have had at least one wave of JS1s every week since they started being released at the end of October. And every JS1 wave was released on a Monday or Friday until last week, when it was released on a Thursday.

2011: 6335 applications
Applications were up from 2013 and 2012, but still lower than 2011.

I believe that many applicants with high credentials ended up on the waitlist last cycle because hls gave out speedy decisions. May be they are waiting to have a better knowledge of the pool.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
