In shock a little? 25 > LSAT < 50 3.9 LGBT. Admitted via snail mail today. No interview request, email, or call.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
This is the impression I got -- I've no uGPA, 75<LSAT and weak to avg softs so I figured I'm not YP material, but they also don't have much info on me. I want that to change, obviously. If I interviewed and made a good impression, that'd be one (hopefully, and pretty likely) decent-sized benefit. Similarly if I bombed it, it'd likely ding me. But if I refused to interview for no great reason, they have plenty of other fish in the pond to catch and wouldn't take me.rebexness wrote:I would read it differently for sure.jrc223 wrote:I also got an interview request today, but I wasn't sure how I wanted to approach it. The e-mail said that not interviewing wouldn't negatively impact my admissions chances, and that if I didn't accept the request, my file would go back under review. My stats are somewhat competitive ( 25% < GPA < 50%, 75% < LSAT), but not so high, I don't think, as to warrant a YP interview. Basically: if it won't hurt my admissions chances to not interview, and not interviewing will also speed up the process (as I won't have to wait on being paired with an alumnus, scheduling the interview, and then waiting for the interview report to be submitted to Georgetown), what's the advantage of saying yes? (I guess I should also note that I'm under the assumption that a good interview won't really impact one's admissions chances, but that a bad one could)
They ask for an interview because they want more information- either to satiate their YP fears or to answer some question about your app.
Not giving the interview means they are fending for themselves to find this information in your app only.
I think a good interview can get you in, and a bad one can keep you out/WL.
And I mean, though they say it won't negatively impact decisions, enough people agree to interview that I'm sure it impacts their chances positively. And in this game where we're fighting each other for spots in their class, not interviewing is going to be a relative negative. (at least, this was half of my justification in agreeing to interview. The other was, I sincerely want to know if GULC is a good fit for me, too, so I see the interview as a chance for me to get to know them better)

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Does anyone have insight into the "Preferred Waitlist"? How big is the preferred list it and how likely is a person on the Pref WL to eventually get accepted? I get it that a Georgetown regular WL is kind of a soft denial and not something to bank on, but the preferred thing is throwing me for a loop.
Thanks for any advice and sorry if this has already been addressed. I have low numbers so it's not YP in my case.

Got in today via snail mail. Applied 1/4, went complete the next day. LSAT and GPA both at 75%. Good luck to all the other applicants!

In via snail mail today! Pretty surprised as I was expecting an interview. Applied 12/18, above median LSAT, below median GPA.

Is anyone else attending any of the upcoming information sessions? I think I will be going to the ones in February.

The group interview with Dean Cornblatt was probably one of the most nerve wracking I have ever had >< But it was fun overall and he's an amazing person (thought I'd share for anyone else who has yet had the group interviews but have been invited)

Also, is it just me or is it a real trend at most schools that the applicants with the highest scores (above 75%) get accepted much quicker? I received acceptance mails from both of my safeties within 2 weeks of submitting my applications, so I'm wondering if the T-14 are doing the same and then leaving the lower scorers to fill up remaining spots

I just got invited to interview with an alum in my city -- I am wondering if anyone knows the accept/reject stats after interviewing? If you're invited to interview you've probably got a pretty decent shot, right? I'm at LSAT 50% and GPA between 25% - 50%

Consensus is interviews are for YP or borderline candidates. Probably not going to affect your decision too too much either way, but always a good way to show interest, round out your application, show another side of yourself, etc.mekepo wrote:I just got invited to interview with an alum in my city -- I am wondering if anyone knows the accept/reject stats after interviewing? Who gets scholarships from Georgetown? They seem stingy.
Does anyone know if I would get a scholarship with a 3.61 and 170 LSAT? Haven't even been admitted, but for argument's sake let's say I have.

GULC has merit scholarships and your scores should give you a decent shot at some of that money. Also, 1/3 of their students get need based assistance - only factor that matters for that money is your financial need in relation to other students - lsat/gpa doesn't matter for this money once accepted.ticklemesilly wrote:Who gets scholarships from Georgetown? Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Only thing that stinks is that GULC requires you to give your parents' financial information when considering you for need-based assistance - regardless of whether your parents are actually helping you with COA. (I know some other schools also require this as well, so I'm not saying this is a strictly GULC thing - I wonder if there's a list somewhere on TLS?) I guess if the rest of your class has parents that are even more well-off than yours, you could still stand to get some need-based assistance...but just something to consider.navykev wrote:GULC has merit scholarships and your scores should give you a decent shot at some of that money. Definitely wait it out. Based on what I've seen on TLS, the 3 weeks appear to be more of a guideline than a rule.carolinagirl723 wrote:I'm at a few days over three weeksJTIII wrote:It was over 3 weeks.ar845 wrote:ED applicants, how far into your 3 week timeframe did you get a decision? Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
A lot of the schools at the t14 are YP; lots of strong candidates at NYU UVA and Penn (a few examples off the top of my head) are admitting many that are around both medians or at one median, 75th for the other, or some similar combination, but many who are over both 75ths haven't heard back yet.dlrkgml wrote:Also, is it just me or is it a real trend at most schools that the applicants with the highest scores (above 75%) get accepted much quicker?
