Just had my interview! It was very short (only 11 min long) and honestly, I don't know if it went well or not... :/
Hopefully I'll hear back from them really soon!

Any guesses on when the next wave will be? I think I may have been a bit late to the party for this wave (UR2/interview on 1/13, and UR3 on 1/14, same day as the interview) .

Off-topic:
But the argument of "Chicago is smaller so more selective than H, which goes on numbers" doesn't really make sense considering that Chicago offers 836 (of which 196 matriculate) and Harvard offers 858 (of which 568 matriculate)...unless I'm missing something.
FYI
Yale Yield - 83%
Harvard Yield - 65%
Stanford Yield - 45%
Just about rest of T14 Yield - 20-25%

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
But they have a wider range of candidates to choose from to hit their medians, since there are more 170+ than 173+. So in that sense they are more selective, if they're making around the same number of offers, but choosing from a larger pool. They have an easier time choosing candidates who are above both medians than H (hence less splitter love), and can also afford to weigh softs a bit more than H.nothingtosee wrote:Off-topic:

Hey all, I am sort of late to this thread but I have my UChicago interview in a few days. If anyone has had their interview and would be kind enough to PM me with details about it, I would be super appreciative. I am generally looking to know... who interviewed you? what sorts of questions did they ask? what sorts of questions did you ask? etc.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know why is Stanford's yield so comparatively low?nothingtosee wrote:Off-topic:

I'm guessing that those who get into Stanford generally tend to get into HY as well, and a lot choose to go to one of the other two schools due to ranking reasons? I have heard for some bizarre reason that S doesn't have as much preftige on the east coast as compared to the best coast.Howl wrote:I'm guessing that those who get into Stanford generally tend to get into HY as well, and a lot choose to go to one of the other two schools due tomalleus discentium wrote:Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know why is Stanford's yield so comparatively low?nothingtosee wrote:Off-topic:

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Definitely true. A lot of people on the east coast equate preftige with US News undergrad rankings and Stanford is comparatively lower than HY (incidentally, Stanford was ranked lower than both UChicago and Columbia the last time I checked).scoobers wrote:I have heard for some bizarre reason that S doesn't have as much preftige on the east coast as compared to the best coast.Howl wrote:I'm guessing that those who get into Stanford generally tend to get into HY as well, and a lot choose to go to one of the other two schools due tomalleus discentium wrote:Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know why is Stanford's yield so comparatively low?nothingtosee wrote:Off-topic:

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I think personal reasons, too. For someone with ties to the east coast or a larger likelihood of targeting an east coast market, H & Y probably make more sense. There are more east coast legal markets, so it makes sense that H & Y would steal from S's yield.Howl wrote:I'm guessing that those who get into Stanford generally tend to get into HY as well, and a lot choose to go to one of the other two schools due to ranking reasons? Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
S has been #2 for the last two years (this year tied for it with H and last year H was #3, I think), and was #3 from 2009-2011. I don't think it's been lower than Chicago or Columbia anytime recently, though I could be wrong.Gary wrote:Definitely true. However, the lower yield S has, the greater likelihood of me getting in if I get waitlisted, so...I'm all for people taking the HY preftige over S

Oops sorry I should have clarified that I was talking about undergrad rankings (with regards to explaining scoobers comment about S having less lay prestige than HY)koalacity wrote:S has been #2 for the last two years (this year tied for it with H and last year H was #3, I think), and was #3 from 2009-2011. I think your best option if you get wait listed is to retake, koala.koalacity wrote:S has been #2 for the last two years (this year tied for it with H and last year H was #3, I think), and was #3 from 2009-2011.
