I wasn't planning on applying to NYU after they LOST my application for undergrad and refused to refund my application fee- it left a bad taste in my mouth. But today they sent me an email asking me to apply, you know the one. The "you're a competitive applicant based on your numbers" email- anyone know if their numbers are down? or what? I'm not a super strong applicant for them generally speaking- 167, 3.75ish. Is it worth applying? I don't want to spend $100 for a rejection letter like I did for undergrad (after I waited 3 weeks past their decision date and called them... they refused to refund my app fee but said they'd notify me after reading my application. psh. jerks!)

You're below the LSAT 25th, and in the GPA 50-75. I wouldn't expect you to have a great chance, and LSN seems to back that up:


Did they give you a fee waiver, or just encourage you to apply?

No fee waiver. That's why I'm skeptical. I mean I can attempt to solicit one, and see if that works out. But I'm really not looking to waste time and money to get an email and a letter. Flattering though it may be, I'm not looking to boost NYU's admissions statistics. Did anyone else get this email?

Would an AnBryce essay help an app? I applied back in October and would qualify for an AnBryce; I was planning on waiting for an ED decision before writing the essay, but if it could affect my chances I'd do it right away.

They want you to apply for the AnBryce with the original JD app. I'm guessing they'll allow you to update the app to an AnBryce application after you've submitted, but I would do so ASAP if I were you.

I was always under the impression that you needed to send the scholarship app at the same time as the JD app:

Attach your public service essay to your J.D. application.

The spreadsheet lists a 168/3.87 non-URM as having been admitted, so I'm not seeing where people are getting the idea that a 171/2 is the floor for early acceptance.

I'm sure it's not, but the vast majority have been 171 and above. One person on the internet isn't really enough for me to trust, lol.

UR2, but not super optimistic

Same. UR2 as of today. Just hoping for the best NYU is a top choice but my credentials are far below the median. Everything else is top-notch tho. Fingers crossed.

Is there an official facebook group for C/O 2017 yet? I know other schools have them up already but I couldn't find one for NYU so I'm not sure if i'm just facebook illiterate or not.

Forgive me if this question sounds ignorant, but is the date change all that is needed for a UR 2 to be deemed to exist? If you don't compulsively check your status checker, could it be UR 3 or UR 4? ... Is there any consensus on what a date change means? Like, have you potentially moved to the front or back of the pile ?

you can also change your address and phone on the ASW!!! so that you don't have to worry about missing the letter
