Two weeks ago, I sent UT my U of Houston scholarship offer of $20K per year. UT FinAid got back to me today. Their counter-offer? $0.
Kinda sucks.

Does UT count University hired workers like GW, Virginia, and UCLA?

Woww what did they tell you? That really sucks that they couldn't even give 5k a year or really anything to encourage you to go there...airbud wrote:Two weeks ago, I sent UT my U of Houston scholarship offer of $20K per year. UT FinAid got back to me today. Their counter-offer? $0.

But in UT's defense, UH doesn't quite match TX as far as rankings go...

Im want to try and negotiate but Texas pretty much gave me the the best offer (with the exception of schools like Northeastern and Tulane which I dont think they will consider). If they bump up their offer a bit it will pretty much decide this for me. Do you guys think if I show them that I got into Cornell, they will consider raising their offer?

I think their general policy is "we can't raise your offer simply because you got into a better school."timeandspace11 wrote:Im want to try and negotiate but Texas pretty much gave me the the best offer (with the exception of schools like Northeastern and Tulane which I dont think they will consider). All they said was that after reviewing my offer from UH, they were unable to offer me any aid. That's all -- short and sweet.JXander wrote:Yeah, that's pretty lame.helpplease wrote:Woww what did they tell you? True, UH is by no means a peer at all to UT. But geez, 20K is a lot. Not even gonna throw me a bone, UT? Oh well, regardless, I'll still probably be saying Hook 'em before long.

Not totally true. A friend of mine got into Duke with no scholarship and that was good enough to bump him up from $9K a year to $11Keaper wrote:I think their general policy is "we can't raise your offer simply because you got into a better school."timeandspace11 wrote:Im want to try and negotiate but Texas pretty much gave me the the best offer (with the exception of schools like Northeastern and Tulane which I dont think they will consider). I'm starting to consider retaking the LSAT in June but i'd really like to know first whether UT is even going to waitlist me. I was thinking since the app deadline was 03/01 we should be getting decisions pretty soon, but it's already the 12th
Btw, I hate UT's status checker. I know that its pretty much the same as other schools, but something about not having a "Current Status Date" drives me crazy.

I know as time passes these updates become less and less helpful, but for what it's worth I just received my admit call from Texas!

Got my acceptance phone call on 2/25 and the snail mail admissions packet a few days after that, but radio silence since then. Does this mean I'm not getting any scholly from them? I would be surprised given my numbers and offers from peer schools... How long should I wait before contacting them to see what's up?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
