Just noticed I specifically got the nonpriority waitlist:

"The Waiting List is comprised of competitive candidates whom we would like to include in our first year class, if space permits. You should be aware, however, that we do maintain a separate category of applicants who have been placed on the Preferred Waiting List and who will be given priority consideration if spaces become available in the first year class. For this reason, it is advisable that Waiting List candidates make deposits and fulfill the requirements to secure a place at another law school."

Translated: "Fuck you, buddy."

Is there a difference?

Yes. Held means that you are still in the pool of applicants and will get a decision (accepted, WL, denied) by the end of February. Waitlist means that you will not be considered again until after they have made the decisions on the normal applicant pool (so don't expect to hear anything until March or later.) At least, that's the impression I got from the held email.

Yes. Held candidates get their responses back by the end of February and they can still be waitlisted. People are held when GT wants to get a better sense of their application pool before admitting (or denying) a candidate.

I know everyone here subscribes to the 3 update theory, but I've had 3 updates (no interview) and still haven't heard anything. Third update was 12/10

I spoke too soon, now I must eat my words. In today via snail mail, last (3rd) update was 12/10 as I mentioned. As others said, very nice note at the end of the acceptance letter that makes me much more inclined to go visit during ASW.

I've seen a few people posting about this, but what's the consensus on how long it takes after an alumni interview to get a decision? I have my interview Wednesday, but I'm assuming with the holidays coming up I might not hear back for weeks. Sad.

I had an interview last tues. and still haven't heard anything. Is this normal? I haven't been following the thread. I don't know how long they take to make decisions after an interview.

I have yet to receive a decision via snail mail at my current address, but the wording on the card seems strange if they haven't made one. Thoughts?

I got the card but I was already accepted. When was your last date change and how many have you had? Maybe you were recently accepted but haven't received the acceptance letter yet?

This is what I'm hoping for. My last status update was 12/3, and my interview was about two weeks before then. I haven't received anything at my current address, and I've asked my parents to triple check at my permanent address.
I was told to email and ask for a status, but I'm not sure how long it will take them to respond.
