cannot believe Hastings gave me no need-based grant. Is my wife $80000 annual income too much for me, my son and herself?

Too bad it's almost all loans.
I hope to see this question answered too.lateforthesky16 wrote:anyone know if Hastings grants are typically renewed? i can't seem to find that info anywhere
Too bad the days of 1.5-2.5% interest on education loans are long gone. Used to be you could let it ride for a while.
That kind of debt leaves a mark.

Do you mean you have no need-based grant, neither? Do you have some sort of merit scholarship from Hastings?

okay cool. I'm curious though about aid being renewed for our second and third years. I received a 10K grant, so I'm just wondering if most students will end up getting 30K total in grants by the time they graduate (10K renewed each year).

I'm putting my grant and scholarship back into the pot. So I hope it can trickle to one of you.

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
I got an e-mail Thursday saying they didn't get my FAFSA. I called, since I'm pretty sure I had it all filled out correctly, and was told they'd try to look at it again. Now I just need to wait for my financial aid info... Without grants there's no way I'm going to Hastings, as much as I like the school and San Francisco.

No grant for me
Is it possible that they will give me a grant for my second year if my financial situation changes? I have a job and some savings right now, but these will be gone next year.
Also was I supposed to have this before I got the award?

I received around 10k for need-based. It is less than half of what Davis offered me, making my easy choice even easier.phabulosa wrote:On ASD, we were toldlateforthesky16 wrote:anyone know if Hastings grants are typically renewed? i can't seem to find that info anywhere

No grant for me either.
I think that when they estimate that I will be able to pay $26,291 towards my education they should tell me where that money is. I wish I didn't like the school so much. I have an overwhelming desire to decline their offer. Oh well, I will return the generosity when they come looking for donations after I graduate.

Completely agree with you! I actually thought about divorcing with my wife and remarrying her after graduation just to screw up the grant reward system at Hastings. Well, our family is worth much more than that. I guess there is always opportunities that I could return my favor.

How is everyone finding out about their merit based grants? Is it coming through email?

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
It's based on each year's fafsa so if you currently have a job, then I think your EFC will be roughly the same for next year. That is if you work all the way up until August.a male human wrote:No grant for meIs it possible that they will give me a grant for my second year if my financial situation changes?
