I agree that it is unfortunate that not even one of the complexes allows cats. People won't give up their pets and I don't blame them.jhua724 wrote:Hi to all! I've been a lurker up to now and will be part of the fall class at UCI. Has anyone seen that as of April 19 (after the decision deadline), there is a new moratorium on cats for Verrano and Palo Verde? This is a big issue for me as we have 2 cats and had budgetted to live on campus, but now none of the 5 complexes will allow cats. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I called Housing and they seem very inflexible about it. I understand that if they make one exception, they will have to make more, but this sudden decision comes at a very awkward time, especially since we'd been reading all along that up cats are allowed as long as they are kept indoors and vaccinated and I had even called housing to confirm. Any ideas on what to do at this point?
I would suggest posting here and on the facebook group to see if others in the same boat would be interested in a roommate. If you share a three bedroom the costs won't be that much more. Also contact the housing office. They may have a list of people looking for roommates.
The only other thing I can think of is to see if Nasreen can adjust your housing budget to account for the additional cost of having to live off-campus in terms of more loan eligibility.
