Congrats to everyone accepted today. I'm still waiting but it's a big reach for me anyway so I'm not expecting much.

Re: Washington and Lee
It seems like a lot of schools have a 164 LSAT scholarship wall. I've heard nothing from W&L today about money and nothing from Wake Forest (which is also known for being extremely generous with money). I'm 163/3.74, and I got into W&L in November and Wake in December. Here's to hoping I get into UNC, looks like in-state tuition is about as good as I'll get...haha.

$72,000.
Thats a lot of g's and I am very humbled.
Also $15,000 from UGA. So UGA is under 10/year and W&L is at 13 or so. What do you guys think?

$30k/yr, 3.0 GPA stipulation.
I will be withdrawing due to more lucrative offers from higher ranked schools in the midwest, where I wish to practice.
Farewell, chappies!

So open question for anyone who wants to answer. What do you guys think about my scholly? I'm not fishing for compliments or anything, but why in the world would my GPA requirements be higher than everyone elses? They planning on me failing? Just seems kinda weird for my offer to be so different from everyone elses. I'm just genuinely concerned that 3.25 is a pretty high GPA to keep, I keep hearing on here how nothing is guranteed. Obviously I plan on being top 50%, but so does 98% of the class.

Because nobody else so far has gotten a full ride. 30K seems to be the highest(as I've seen)Rowinguy2009 wrote:So open question for anyone who wants to answer. Have they been doing scholarship decisions via e-mail or postal? Seems to be a mixture from what I can tell on here...

Do you guys know if scholly offers can be negotiated upwards for the 2nd or 3rd year if you perform well enough? I understand that some other schools will raise the stakes if you get stellar grades and have transfer options.

I emailed Mr. Twitty about a possible visit / interview.
I hope to plead my case and try and get off the waitlist.

(And yes, I am being the pitiful person that is thinking of reasons why he didn't get the letter today. Being out of state, I can't afford to go without at least some aide.)

Re: Washington and Lee
I realize your apprehension b/c of the 3.25 but it really doesn't seem like it should be too hard to maintain. Unless I really suck at math is seems like all you would have to do is get 3 Bs and 1 A and you would be fine, 2 As and your golden, doesn't seem like they are asking too much from someone who is going there for free.Rowinguy2009 wrote:So open question for anyone who wants to answer. Got the scholarship email today-- $24,000/year. Funny, since they sent me an email earlier this morning saying that they had received my request and withdrawn my application. Hopefully that money can go to someone else
Congrats to those who got scholarships today and good luck to those still waiting for decisions or on the waitlist.

so I got the 34K per year offer too, and I hadn't really thought of them, but nearly a full ride is hard to turn down. With a 52K total offer at W&M which I am strongly considering, I'm now just confused. The 3rd year reforms worry me, and I wonder how quick Lexington would get boring. 102K is a lot of money, though. What do ya'll think?

Re: Washington and Lee
got in with a 24K, and I consider W&L's curriculum a real strength, perhaps strong enough to overcome the location. one lawyer I spoke with emphasized legal research & writing seminars as one of the most underrated and important aspects of a legal education, especially when it comes to doing well early in one's career (and 1L & 2L summer jobs)--W&L has a 2 year seminar whereas most schools have 1 year. also, the new 3rd year curriculum seems very interesting and another strength in that students gain real experience rather than sitting in a classroom. perhaps that's just me since I'm big on work experience, but it seems most 3L's are tired of class anyway, so a unique 3L curriculum could be a way to overcome that burn outchinagator wrote:so I got the 34K per year offer too, and I hadn't really thought of them, but nearly a full ride is hard to turn down. Re: Washington and Lee
I think you should probably just visit both and see which one you like more. I mean, 52K is a lot less than 102K, but W&M is cheaper than W&L. I also think the estimated COL is lower for some reason. So, the difference in cost might not be as big as it seems. I don't know...just something to think about.chinagator wrote:so I got the 34K per year offer too, and I hadn't really thought of them, but nearly a full ride is hard to turn down.
