The one hour breaks are what you make of them. It's very tempting to sit in the main portion of the library and have fun with your classmates, but I was able to get a decent amount of work done if I used them well.JesusSmarmia wrote:ellakay,
My biggest peeve so far at UGA is the schedule, with class all day, separated by one-hour breaks. How does that actually end up working out? Does it at least allow enough time to do your digging for legal research during the day and avoid staying on campus all evening? If I want to keep my time on campus to a minimum, what is the least I can expect to get away with? (without my performance suffering)
thanks
Congrats! I'm sure you'll have a great time at UNC, sorry it won't be as bad ass as the UGA 1L class .. But I hear Chapel Hill has a bangin Halloween Party! =)d-cannon wrote:Well, this was a tough choice, but I am withdrawing from UGA to attend UNC...
I sure am going to miss what I think I will be missing.![]()

Hey Vik, need a sticker?
I'm working for the AG of Guyana. So far, our (there are three of us, all from UGA) only project has been to research a criminal issue for the Deputy SG, but we have only just started. The Dean Rusk Center will let you choose from a list of places they have used in the past, but all students welcome to propose their own plan, so long as the student is willing to do the additional legwork. I don't think that option is used very often, though, since there are many great opportunities already available through the regular GIP system. Also, internet down here is really spotty, so don't get upset if I don't respond to further questions until Augustmissvik218 wrote:Thank you cake!! Very helpful. Do you mind saying where you're working and what you're doing this summer?! I'm super interested/excited about the GIP!! Does the Dean Rusk Center give you options of positions available or do you have to figure out where you want to go and what you want to do on your own?

I called and they said that info. would be released after the June 15 2nd deposit deadline. Apparently it's about 2 weeks long, which would place it starting near the end of July or the very beginning of August.iShotFirst wrote:Is there any more information on the pre-orientation week that has been mentioned here and there? I understand it went on last year but haven't heard any new info on here or the UGA website. I'll be emailing the school of course but wonder if anyone heard anything interesting about it.

The impression I got when I was there was that they are just praying that not everyone sends in their second deposit. They accepted a lot of people and were surprised when so many people sent in the first deposit. Doesn't look like they will be digging too deeply into the waitlist this year unfortunately.MikeRob9485 wrote:sure do, do you think they have pretty much all the seats filled or will they let some people on the wait list in? I've got a buddy who's right on the fringe as far as his numbers go and i'd like to see him at UGA next year
Doubt it because they won't have the need.MikeRob9485 wrote:that blows; have they had that problem in the past? do you think they just accept a class of 270 or so and make another section?
Now there's a charge.
