I really have been charmed by Mich this cycle. I can't wait for ASWs to help with decisions.

I seriously didn't consider Mich at ALL until I started getting their mailings and emails. Now, I really like the vibe. I hope I like it in person, too, since they're the only school I know I have a good scholarship to

For those who interviewed for the Darrow, how did you hear back? Phone call? E-mail? Post?

I'm hoping to! I have some conflicts with interviews for scholarships at other schools, so I'm waiting to see which one will work better.S.Picquery wrote:That's super real. Are you going to ASW? I want to see if the school is as charming as their propagandaairwrecka wrote:+1!

Michigan's cost of living will be a big advantage. Total shit show for weather and I would say the Bay area is geographically much more beautiful than southern Michigan though.ood wrote:Checking in, in at Michigan with Avg stats.

Would also say where you plan to practice might be important to consider. My understanding is Cali schools tend to place mostly in Cali.Instrumental wrote:Michigan's cost of living will be a big advantage. I'm interested in pi /government. I can't do big law. As for practice, possibly the Southwest.
If possible I would love to do a clerkship, so Berkeley seems on that. I guess I need to familiarize my self with Michigan a bit more.

Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
Michigan and Berkeley essentially have the same employment statics (PI, Gov't, BL, Clerkships, etc.) They are all within a point or two of the other school's specific stat. When it comes down to a couple points or maybe even a few, you can chalk it up to negligible year to year variance. The next year Michigan might place a couple points better in clerking, and Berkeley might place a couple worse in PI. The self-selection of every class causes those sorts of shifts, not limited opportunities in any given type of employment. This is all to say that I'd put employment statistics aside if you are fine with Berkeley, because they are identical at Michigan. At this point, it comes down to cost and feel.ood wrote:I'm interested in pi /government. I can't do big law. As for practice, possibly the Southwest.

FWIW, I drove up for an afternoon in mid-January and it's prettttty charming. I'm used to horrible winters so the cold wind that day was only slightly off-putting, and completely ignorable once inside their ridiculous castle of a law school. Ann Arbor definitely feels like a college town though, so how you feel about that is up to the individual.S.Picquery wrote:That's super real. Are you going to ASW? Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
Has anyone gotten some sort of book from Michigan recently? I just got a package notification and when I use the tracking number it says it's "Bound Printed Matter" and originated in Pontiac, MI, so I'm trying to decide if this is some UM book. (I'm at work so I can't pick it up til later and figured playing sleuth to figure out what it is would be the best use of my time until then.)
edit: I already got my acceptance package so it's not that.

Yep! Just got a supplemental bound booklet thing from them in the past couple days. I think on their academic offerings, I haven't looked at it more closely.joeytribbiani wrote:Has anyone gotten some sort of book from Michigan recently? Anyone else still waiting on scholarship info? Admitted 12/23 but I'm worried that since they haven't sent me anything yet I'll be stuck paying sticker.
