Fear not fellow future Trojans! Not only was this the cheesiest way to begin a post (and I do now hate myself for doing it but I've done it now so I'm committed), but I have news that can help allay some concerns!

Just called the admissions office and got two takeaways:
1) They're really tired of us calling and asking for decisions over the phone. The lady I spoke to was really nice, and she sounded quite a bit stressed about it all. They're people too y'all, and they want to help us. So yes, patience, though hard, is certainly a virtue. If nothing else, a little courtesy can definitely go a long way!

2) When I spoke to the admissions office lady, she told me that the people who received decisions by email had gotten them by special request of some sort. According to her, they had to specifically request it and then be personally approved by the Director of Admissions (I believe)? Other than that, she said any decisions that were finalized today or yesterday were likely sent out in the mail today and would arrive in several business days. But they do plan to get all decisions out by the May 1st deposit deadline.

I realize this isn't the news that some people - especially those anxious for a decision - may have wanted to hear, but it's better than nothing. If it helps at all, y'all can try to find solace in what is arguably the best line in all of literature: "After all, tomorrow is another day!"

I may be reading into this too much but as far as I know everyone was notified of their acceptance by e-mail, so if they are only sending out decisions via e-mail via special approval process perhaps the best those of us waiting can hope for is a WL at this point? Regardless, thanks for sharing this info with us all! I shall continue to obsessively refresh the status checker and wear my daily piece of Trojan apparel in the meantime...

Thanks for sharing this! I haven't yet heard anything regarding people having to request acceptances by email. Can anyone who has been accepted confirm that they went through this process and how? Has anyone here only received their acceptance by postal mail and not by email first?

I filled out nothing special. I got an acceptance email, followed quickly by an email with accepted student portal info and within a week I got the snail mail acceptance letter. No special request process.

I got the response within two weeks of applying so I never even checked my status for USC.

Sorry for providing what seems to be incorrect information to y'all. :/ Seemed reasonable when I heard it, but it could have been a smoke screen, too. At this point I'll just be holding out for something positive, though. If you haven't heard anything yet, you're still in the fight for a spot so keep at it y'all! Made it a full cycle so far, so what's an extra week or so?

I spoke with admissions by email and they said:

"We are working as quickly as possible to have a decision rendered to each applicant by 4/30/15. You status checker will tell you exactly where we are in the process; continue to check it through the end of the month."

So...just another week and a half left!

LOL yes, the status checker is VERY detailed about where they are in the process! Haha anyway, thanks for passing along the info! Good to know it's been confirmed that we will most likely be hearing by the end of the month. Too bad that doesn't help me with the decisions I need to make this week with the extensions I've already gotten from other schools! *sigh*

Do you guys think they do this intentionally so that your other offers will expire and you lose your negotiating leverage? It seems convenient (for them) that they give me a response right after my Emory and WUSTL offers expire.

pretty sure they don't care about WUSTL and Emory since they have a ton of people on the west coast who didn't even apply to those schools.

Weird how this went for me.. not sure about the whole CR1-CR2 timing, but it was odd.. I was checking all day on 4/20 (funny I know) no status change.. on the 21st I checked, it said DF final on the 20th.

Same. Went DF on 4/20 and no email or mailing since -- and I live in LA. Status checker "mailings" section is blank too. Assuming a ding but waiting for it to be official.

Can anyone confirm that these questions are the same for everyone? Or have people been experiencing a different question set than this? Not doubting the truth of the post, just perhaps they're trying to outsmart us by making a variety of different question sets...

Ahhh, that makes sense. Thanks. Do you by chance know if you get multiple chances to record your video? Or once you record a response, are you done and can't redo it or anything?
