Ahh, I don't want to be the one to ruin this, but -- it doesn't seem like any of the domestic applicants who received an emailed admittance without a scholarship letter received one in the physical package.rae_mal wrote:Long time lurker, checking in. I went complete 1/16 and got the email with the pdf of my admittance letter today. So excited!
I know Butler and Hamiltons have been coming in with admittance and the email was only of the first admittance letter, so do we think there's still a chance for scholarships with the physical package? I'm being highly optimistic

Congrats on being admitted! I hate to dampen the optimism as well, but I received my admittance via e-mail, and the scholarship info was included as a second attachment as well as mentioned in the first attachment. It looks like another person got their Butler info via e-mail with their acceptance today too. So, that seems to be the trend. If I've learned anything from this experience, though, it's that Columbia is highly unpredictable. So, it is possible but not probable. Congrats to the admits today!
Lot of chatter about sending LOCIs for those who have been in radio silence. I am complete since 12/22 with no news at all, and I am aware many have been waiting much longer than the 2 months I have. Would love the A Team's (all of you) insight on when, if ever, its appropriate/advantageous to send a LOCI for one stewing in total silence (I would think the advice would apply to most schools)? I of course understand the LOCIs for Helds and Waitlists, of course. I'm not sure I see any logic to sending one if you are someone who has heard nothing, our applications are not lost in the mail and the school isn't giving us the silent treatment because they think we are less interested than when we hit submit? Am I missing something here/ The LOCI seems like a dumb move for everyone living in silence, I don't think it would hurt but I think it's pointless. EXCEPTIONS are of course if you have major updates to stats or your resume, or some absurd situation like it's late April and you haven't heard anything.
Unrelated, but any general consensus on whether CLS favors lsat vs gpa, work experience, the Why CLS, etc...haven't found any consensuses on these boards on that type of discussion as there certainly is for other schools.
Good luck all!

Long time lurker coming out of hiding too because lol y not. I get that it's probably too early to submit a LOCI, but is there TLS wisdom that it's good/bad to send a letter saying "Why Columbia," if I hadn't submitted that with my original app? At/slightly below medians and applied in November.

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I actually had this question a few weeks back when I realized I should've submitted a "Why Columbia" but decided that I wouldn't send it in based on this: "SUBMISSION OF ADDITIONAL MATERIALS - Applicants are expected to be diligent in providing all necessary information for review of their candidacy prior to the completion of their applications. Once an application is complete, please do not submit additional materials unless they convey essential information, as there is no guarantee such materials will be placed in your application prior to the evaluation and may potentially slow down the review of your candidacy. Applicants may submit address changes and letters of continued interest (Hold or Reserve applicants only) through our online upload portal." It kind of sounds like if you're waiting, they don't want to hear from you until you've been held/WL'd. :s

Do you think the batch of decisions sent out yesterday means we're done for the week? And if I became complete 2/3, is it too early to be bummed I haven't heard anything from them yet?
Fingers crossed for more movement this week!!

In yesterday via email! Submitted early-ish January, interviewed about two weeks ago, 25<LSAT<50<GPA<75. Obviously no scholarships with the scanned letter, but I am just so happy because my interview wasn't super good and I was beginning to give up hope.

No idea - I imagine there may be more this week. But yes, way too early to be bummed about not hearing anything yet. There are people still waiting from the fall.ek5dn wrote:Do you think the batch of decisions sent out yesterday means we're done for the week? Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
The most recent applicant to be admitted at Columbia was a 1/21 application, according to LSN. Even that seems to be an outlier, as the second most-recent admit applied on 1/10. I think it's safe to assume that January/February applicants haven't been passed over yet!hillz wrote:No idea - I imagine there may be more this week. Did anyone who went complete mid January (1/16) receive an interview invitation this week (received on Monday 2/23)?
LSAT at 25 50<GPA<75 + relatively solid Columbia-specific softs
Stats are obviously very low to borderline, do any other borderline people who interviewed and were later accepted have any advice for the interview? Thanks in advance

I'm complete from late December with above 75th GPA and median LSAT - no interview invite or decision yet.hfp7 wrote:Did anyone who went complete mid January (1/16) receive an interview invitation this week (received on Monday 2/23)?
