Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
Mine hasn't moved since 3/6 since my app went complete either. I'm very fed up w/Cornell and am very unimpressed with the administration in general. I went to their table at an LSAC event, and I was one of the first people to approach them that morning and the lady couldn't even make eye contact and pay attention to what I was asking. Then, their review process of application materials is done MANUALLY?? Took over a month for my app to be complete after I submitted, which is frustrating in this day and age when other schools are completing material review in 2-5 days.yannao wrote:I haven't seen a date change since my app went complete 3/11, so I'm not sure if I'm actually UR.. at this rate I expect a decision in July lol.Yaaaas2013 wrote:Anyone else still under review? Just had my first date change since going complete 2/9. Hopefully this means some movement soon for those of us still waiting, though this late in the cycle I'm not feeling confident about how much aid they'll be able to offer.

Status changed for first time yesterday.
Is it safe to conclude that, at this point, you're pretty much a reject if they haven't gotten around to you?

Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
I got accepted early, but last month I got an email saying that they cannot provide me with any scholarships until I pay the deposit and then they will sort of re-evaluate me. I understand that my LSAT is below 25% (GPA above 75% from Ivy, very strong PI background, and unique life experience), but I got $22k need based scholly from Berkeley and some money from UCLA, so can't they make me at least some offer before the 1st deposit is due? This is so disappointing...
Has anyone else gotten this emai? Is it unusual? Should I try to negotiate with Berkeley's offer?

Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
Whether common or not, this strikes me as unbelievably unethical; they are basically asking you to make a life-altering decision without giving you one of the most-important pieces of data for making that decision. I've personally not heard of this tactic (and "tactic" is the most-generous accurate way I can think to describe it), but frankly, just reading this sours my impression of the school quite a bit. It's clear they don't want to have to "tie up" their financial aid offers to students whom they are uncertain will attend, but that understandable issue shouldn't be license to make unethical requests of their applicants/admits.AwesomeLawyer wrote:I got accepted early, but last month I got an email saying that they cannot provide me with any scholarships until I pay the deposit and then they will sort of re-evaluate me. Grain of salt, of course -- that's just my $0.02.

To play devils advocate... If you applied early the decision has already been made that your attending regardless of price, so I don't think this is unethical...

If you applied ED, you broke your terms by not withdrawing your apps from other schools. Total violation of contract you signed.AwesomeLawyer wrote:I got accepted early, but last month I got an email saying that they cannot provide me with any scholarships until I pay the deposit and then they will sort of re-evaluate me. Why are you mentioning other schools if you got in ED?AwesomeLawyer wrote:I got accepted early, but last month I got an email saying that they cannot provide me with any scholarships until I pay the deposit and then they will sort of re-evaluate me. Hate to break this up but... I just got offered some really amazing summer internship opportunities in PI-which I will be doing. Should I e-mail Cornell with a letter explaining this? OR is it too late in the game?

Except OP didn't say they got in "ED," just that they got in early. Those are not necessarily equivalent.malibustacy wrote:If you applied ED, you broke your terms by not withdrawing your apps from other schools. Did everyone get a diversity email from Cornell this morning? It's the first thing I've gotten from them since applying in February and my SC changed this week as well. *Totally reading too much into this*

Maybe the poster above meant early, just early cycle. I was an ED admit and have begun withdrawing from all schools.
Nevertheless, I still keep getting bombarded by "Free applications" and "Deadline Extended."
When will this stop??

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I got accepted early (in January), but did not apply for Early Decision. Thanks everyone for the advice though, I agree that it sounds extremely unethical and sways me even more towards Berkeley.spencercross wrote:Except OP didn't say they got in "ED," just that they got in early. If I remember correctly, acceptances were going out till late April and maybe even into May last cycle. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.jbrantley wrote:Status changed for first time yesterday.
