When's a good time to sign a lease?

I'd say a little before August 1st, but I may be a little overzealous.

The undergrads sign leases 6 months to a year (sometimes over a year) in advance. I highly suggest not waiting til august unless you dont care where you live. Like the house I live in now I found on really late craigslist and signed the lease february for a June move-in... it was like unheard of to wait that late in the game.... the towns around here have student housing restrictions, I heard from a law student that they apply to law students as well, but most landlords ive dealt with are willing to rent to grad students (dispite the silly laws). All the student restrictions make it really hard to get housing in Bryn Mawr (the farther towns don't enforce the restrictions as much because a lot less students live outside of Bryn Mawr) soooo just a tip, if you want to find a house there start looking soon!

are you sure about that? i had no problem finding housing as a grad student. i never heard of any restrictions on grad students around here, either.

that being said, i do agree that august is a little late.

Undergrads are banned from a lot of the housing we can use, and our apartment complex specifically.

I live in Bryn Mawr and the restrictions you speak of that many apartments/houses have only apply to undergrads. I have not heard of anywhere that will not rent to graduate students.

Really??? See originally i didnt think they did, but one of the Nova law students I work with said they did and that one of the older married students wasa having problems because of they. but hey maybe i'm wrong thats just what I heard from him.

Received an email telling me to check my online status. Said they mailed a letter to my house as well.

Hmm I just spoke to the admissions office and they said they haven't touched the WL and won't until mid to end of May.

Sorry to hear that, I don't have an answer for you. I was surprised to get off the waitlist this early, and, to be honest, I wish this had happened a month from now. I would have liked more time until the clock started ticking.

I too was accepted off of the wait-list, I think you were given inaccurate information.
