Re: SMU 2011
Yeah most of our classrooms have a good collegiate law-school feel (lots of wood). And everything on campus is in matching red brick. (literally every building is required to be) The aesthetics will only be a plus for you at Smoo.Gecko of Doom wrote:You don't have to worry about that. Some of the classrooms could be newer, but they're by no means depressing. And the campus overall is gorgeous.swilson215 wrote:This is good to know! I won't be able to visit until the first ASW (the first weekend in April), but the aesthetics of a campus are semi-important to me. Right behind Rice as the most beautiful campus in Texas, imo.

Today, the free lunch options are Pizza Hut (Federalists Society), Chipotle (Christian Legal Society), and Olive Garden (some other group). I love SMU.

held for further review 2/10
Does anyone have their "Why SMU" essays? I want to compare mine and see whether or not I was on the right track with it. That's the only part of my application I'm worried about.

Shit, can someone remind me when ASW is again? Also does SMU do travel stipends?

I think someone else asked and they said no. If they did, I'd certainly be down for a subsidized trip to DallasHelltotheNo wrote:Also does SMU do travel stipends?

I've been complete since 12/16 and not a peep on my app, has this happened to anyone else? Should I send an email asking if something has happened to my app?

What are smu's rules on seat deposits? Do you need to withdraw all other apps? Are you not allowed to apply to other schools after you have paid a deposit?

From what I know, you can pay as many seat deposits as you'd like -- as long as you don't mind coughing up $250-500 per. Lots of kids do this due to getting accepted at one school but still riding out a waitlist at another.simontemplar wrote:What are smu's rules on seat deposits? Do you need to withdraw all other apps? 1st deposit - no one cares.simontemplar wrote:What are smu's rules on seat deposits? Do you need to withdraw all other apps? Are you not allowed to apply to other schools after you have paid a deposit?
2nd deposit - if you've deposited at more than one school, you'll start getting phone calls asking whats up.

That's the only ranking that matters to me. Nowhere does it mention the amount of books in a school's library.mbusch22 wrote:future SMUers:

Re: SMU 2011
I am really hoping to visit SMU since they offered me such a large scholarship. The fact that they do not do travel stipends and ASW is April 1 is a bit of a burden. I hope to make it down at some point to check it out as I have never been in the state of Texas.
