I have no one to read my essays.

Each T14 wants a different essay and seems to much to ask 1-2 people to read through all of them .

My friend who is an English minor and writing tutor and my Mom (yeah I’m serious) who is an English teacher.

Here's a question- this early in the cycle, is it basically expected that any news is good news? It doesn't seem like there have been dings yet on any of the T14 threads. Do they just hold off on the reject piles until later in the cycle?

I think that may have been a one-off. Although I'm sure dings are underreported on LSN, the graphs for T13 on mylsn.info show most dings come later in the cycle

Aii Imma ask again if anyone can help - I'm going to ask my boss to write me a letter but since I draft all her communications anyway and bc I hear from others, I'm expecting to draft the letter for her. I'm going to go in with a draft ready at hand. Can anyone who mightve been in this situation point me in the direction of the resources they used - or provide some tips to make sure it sounds like its the boss writing and not me? Everything in the letter is going to be genuine because she has praised me time and again so those are the examples i'm using, it's just a matter of putting pen to paper for her :/ waghh helppppp.

It's been several years, but I penned my own recommendation from the director of the English academy I taught at in Korea and had her sign it to use upon my return stateside.

I don't have any specific resources, but you have probably already Googled and used the same pages that I used then. If you know you have a very distinct writing voice, I would just aim to be as plain in your language as possible while maintaining a professional tone. If you haven't already sent the LSAC request, I would choose the option to waive your access rights. You will print the letter, she will read, sign, and scan into a PDF to attach per the instructions she receives in the email. But, since you have waived your rights, certainly if the voices do align, no one will think you wrote it yourself. I mean, it's not something worth worrying about too much as she is signing off on it. But, if you are paranoid, there is that.

I can probably find a letter my current boss wrote when I was looking for another job (he's really nice like that) and I might be able to dig around for a copy of my K-boss letter as well. Neither are extraordinary, but they are fine. Otherwise, all my actual LSAC letter really are waived access and I have no idea how they turned out.

While I'm a huge advocate for attending the forums, I still think it's more important to apply early. I guess if the forum is in the next couple weeks you could wait, but if any longer than that I'd say get those apps in.

At this point, anything from now to the last day of November will bestow equal benefits. That's when Northwestern stops accepting ED apps. Then anytime Christmas is on time for most places. Mid January starts the undeniably late season

I decided to just submit my apps now, attend LSAC forum, and email the people I meet and the general admissions email. Hopefully my emails get noted on my applications.

i think getting fee waivers is the best thing that can come from an LSAC forum unless you are targeting regional schools that love taking kids from the region (i.e. TX).

I went to the Miami one and I asked a lot of people about what specifically they were looking for beyond the numbers and how they personally view the student culture. Obviously you can get a lot of this info online, but I wanted to see how they actually spoke about the law school. A lot of the stuff posted online is polished marketing stuff, and I wanted to see what people who actually represent the school have to say about it to get a feel for what the culture actually is like (I only bothered if I saw that the people were deans/actual admissions people). I've been reviewing resumes/cover letters and interviewing a bunch of people with my boss and another manager at my job for an entry level position we're looking to fill, and it's amazing to me how something comes across totally differently written down versus when you actually talk to a person. Even if they give the same info that's available online, I noticed some people spoke about certain factors significantly more than others (example: Texas rep kept talking about employability, Michigan rep kept talking about fit/being part of a community, Duke rep talked about numbers and seeing in application why you want to go to Duke specifically, etc.)

The head of admissions for my state school interviewed me at the table, which I take to be part of the quick turnaround on my application there. She also gave me a fee waiver, but an automatic one was on my account, too. I think Slippin Jimmy noted a number of similar conversations, though with higher caliber schools. I don't think I prepared as extensively as he did, though.

Finally took the GRE! Going into this cycle blind is intimidating but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's still early, and I'm not done submitting apps, but I'd say I've met with about as much success as I could reasonably expect this soon after receiving my LSAT score, and I feel like there's more good news to come soon.
