I'll second that. Just had a long call with her this week and those emails absolutely capture her personality, except that she's even more exuberant live.Sarastro wrote:I'll just add that I met with Dean Z for like 20 minutes recently and it was like meeting with one of those emails. She's adorable. It doesn't seem like it's just a marketing strategy (though it definitely doesn't hurt in that regard).brinicolec wrote:Agreed. It's how they try to differentiate themselves from other law schools. Personally, I think it's a really good strategy; it definitely made me look into them more.mm2368 wrote:Just got the funniest/quirkiest/nicest email from Mich asking me to apply! Anyway, it was a really great email! Anyone else get this and considering applying?

I should probably know this since I'm OP but is there an email address specifically for admitted students who have admission questions?

In via email this morning. LSAT and GPA > 75, applied 10/12. I sent a mini LOCI after their "don't worry reviewing your application takes time" email.

Looks like there's a wave going on.. Did any of your status checkers change before getting the email?

Looks like I was the first to notify TLS of today's little wave. This has long been a dream for me, and I'm honored to serve.

Great, thanks! I sent in a "Why Michigan" on Monday after we got that email last week so I'm hoping I'll get a decision next week on that same timeline.ayylmao wrote:Nine days ago.dclaw93 wrote:How long ago did you send in the LOCI?ayylmao wrote:In via email this morning. Based on LSN data, looks like they are trying to raise their LSAT median to 169. Darn.

If so, they chose a really tough cycle to do that.88234 wrote:Based on LSN data, looks like they are trying to raise their LSAT median to 169. Darn.

I think that actually makes sense given the increase in 170 scorers this year. They might be able to grab enough to increase their scores.88234 wrote:Based on LSN data, looks like they are trying to raise their LSAT median to 169. Darn.

Probably not- that 170 scorer increase is not offset by the absolute decimation to 169's and 171+. Schools like Columbia and HLS with huge class sizes are gonna need to accept anything 170+ with a pulse to maintain medians (or reduce class size).jjcorvino wrote:I think that actually makes sense given the increase in 170 scorers this year. Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
As of now there are 1019 applicants with 172+. 582 of those need to go to Yale/Harvard/Columbia to maintain their median LSAT. I think they can pretty easily do that. Stanford and Chicago already have lower LSAT medians, so they get even more applicants that can maintain their medians. There might be a tightening at the 25th and 75th%, but I think the top schools will be able to keep it up.theboringest wrote:Probably not- that 170 scorer increase is not offset by the absolute decimation to 169's and 171+. This post gave me the sad imagery of someone excited about their dope 170+ score but then diedtheboringest wrote:Schools like Columbia and HLS with huge class sizes are gonna need to accept anything 170+ with a pulse to maintain medians (or reduce class size).
