Does anyone know if there's a set date by which we have to reply back to the Mordecai email? I'm almost certainly interviewing, I just don't know which date yet - I start a new job in January and I want to check with the new workplace to see which might be the best day to take off. I wouldn't want to leave in the middle of a scheduled large project or something

I don't really know the answer to this question, but I actually feel like this is something you could just e-mail Duke to say.Howl wrote:(reposting this question on this thread in the hopes of a reply from a knowledgeable TLS-er)

"Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the Mordecai. I'm starting a new job in January and would like to check in with them before scheduling the interview." etc.
Alternatively, is there a reason you can't talk to the new job now and ask what day would be best? Do they know you'll be leaving come fall for law school?

PT decision: priority reserve. It's my first response. No Why X essay. Stats - 3.9x/168. I didn't bother waiting for my dec score, but if it happens to be higher, that should be used for leverage. I don't think I'm writing an essay either way, as it would be extremely forced.

Those seem like Scholarship worthy admit numbers. Duke is being too selective! Our Dec scores WILL be betterOtunga wrote:PT decision: priority reserve. It's my first response. No Why X essay. My softs are shit though. Just part time work and unfocused internships. Anyways, yes, a higher score would be great but I've been pessimistic about it, and so that's why I didn't bother waiting to submit my Duke app. I sort of figured wl was the most likely outcome due to below average softs and lack of any particular interest shown for Duke. Still, I've noticed some getting in with median LSAT and below median GPA without a why x essay. I would think that's at least partial affirmation of the accepted view that the LSAT matters more than GPA.

That's a great idea, bom. I'll do just that. I'll let the board know if they answer back with a certain due date as well. Happy new year everyone!barrelofmonkeys wrote:I don't really know the answer to this question, but I actually feel like this is something you could just e-mail Duke to say.Howl wrote:(reposting this question on this thread in the hopes of a reply from a knowledgeable TLS-er)

I submitted my application 10 days ago (12/22) via priority track and my status checker still says "processing incomplete file" even though everything is in. Is this normal or should I call their admissions office?

Based on my experience, that's abnormal. I'd reach out to confirm receipt of everything necessary to consider the application.Gucci Mane wrote:I submitted my application 10 days ago (12/22) via priority track and my status checker still says "processing incomplete file" even though everything is in. In that case I'll just give them a call when their office re-opens. I don't have any C&F issues and both the boxes in the "application requirements" section are checked off.
I think what might have happened is just that they haven't had time to look at my application yet since the 10 days have included Christmas and New Years.

It's possible that the office being closed (or supposedly closed) the entire time could be the issue, but if/when they're actually considering it, it should have an under review status.Gucci Mane wrote:In that case I'll just give them a call when their office re-opens. Re: Duke c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Has anyone tried to start the need access form today? For some reason Duke Law isn't on the list of available/participating schools for the 2013-2014 school year. That's also the only school year available for selection...shouldn't we be applying for need-based scholarship for the 2014-2015 school year? I'm a bit confused as to what we're supposed to do....any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, it's the same way for (presumably) everyone. A couple of us mentioned it in the Admitted Students Forum. I'd guess it goes up tomorrow.BostonFuse51 wrote:Has anyone tried to start the need access form today? Hi guys, quick question - I submitted PT a couple months ago and was asked for fall grades on the 10th day. My grades are in, so should I be expecting a 10 day turn around? Or am I now just considered like a non PT applicant?

Sound like you were bumped to Priority Reserve, in which case no- you should not be expecting a ten day turnaround. PR is just another kind of wait list.bound2tls wrote:Hi guys, quick question - I submitted PT a couple months ago and was asked for fall grades on the 10th day. I always thought the LOCI was basically a why duke essay.kimkardashian wrote:Is it wise to write both a LOCI and a "Why Duke" essay if you were placed on Priority Reserve, and mail them in a single envelope? Or is just the LOCI enough? I don't want to get repetitive. Also, how long should a "Why Duke" essay, one page single spaced? Thank you.
