I mostly lurk here, but had to get this off my chest.
Applied 9/1
UCR: 11/20
nothing since then...
Wrote one of the optional essays, but not the "Why Penn." I made it through the first round of waitlists, but it seems like my app is just floating in the ether somewhere. 3.5x, LSAT>175. Anyone else stuck on a really early UCR1?

I think they may still be reviewing Early Decision 2 applications with priority. Just a thought not a 100 percent on this. Just trying to easy the waiting process for you all.

I just received an e-mail stating that Dean Post would like to conduct a phone interview with me this week. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any idea what to expect?

I'd do a little background research so you have some good answers planned. I am sure this is a good thing! Re: Penn C/O 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
I have had a bunch of PMs asking me about my phone interview experience. I figured I might as well post what I have sent to every single one of them here for future reference:
First off it is my opinion that if you are having a phone interview, the acceptance is your's to loose. As for the content of the interview, Dean Post just asked me why I feel that law school is the right choice at this point in my life, Why I want to leave the west to study in Philly, and what type of on campus organizations I hope to join if admitted. If I could go back and give myself advice I would tell myself to have a better understanding on which extra-curricular activities UPenn Law has that attracts me to the school (Journals, Clinics, ect.). I felt like this is the question I struggled with most.
Also, I spoke with another TLSer that had the interview and both of us felt that we BUTCHERED the interview. This is mainly due to the fact that Dean Post will not reveal anything, what so ever, about how the admissions council is feeling about your application. She will be very formal and straight to the point. Her reaction to answers answers were very neutral and initially other interviewees and I took this as a bad sign. In the end almost everyone who has interviewed has been admitted so don't be too critical of yourself. Again in my opinion they have pretty much made up their mind to admit you. They just want to make sure you have given UPenn some serious thought and that you are not totally incompetent.
I Hope that this helps to ease some of the tension those with phone interviews may be facing.

I did that and got in on the second day they gave out RD decisions, so you do have a shot. Did you give a reason for switching to RD?UMich11 wrote:Just switched my app from ED to RD, i hope this wasn't a stupid decision but we'll see. Still says UR though.

Re: Penn C/O 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
I have no backing for this, but I think the 1/8 1/9 people are going to be hearing back in the next couple days. The 1/2 people heard back around the time the 1/9 people went UR2. Now a new group is going UR2 on 1/16, meaning the 1/9 people should be hearing back soon just based on a pattern (with one set of data points) haha. But who knows! Good luck everyone
