You can't read too much into the cycle this early. The people they've taken have been their first pass through the earliest group of apps. Look at past years and Penn takes plenty of candidates in the 3.6+/170+ range.jpal13 wrote:I'm in that range too, but FYI I believe those who are on the lower gpa side were ED. In fact, out of the 38 admits, there are exactly ZERO with a GPA between 3.6 and 3.8. This troubles me as I fall into this range......

I hope that is the case, I'm just below 3.8.Nelson wrote:You can't read too much into the cycle this early. The people they've taken have been their first pass through the earliest group of apps. Are pretty much all the RDs under review right now or does it actually mean something at Penn?

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
This isn't like (what appears to be) the mass update for RD people at UVA. The dates seem to be shared, but the cadences are not (i.e., a bunch of late Oct/early Nov people went UR for the first time on 12/19, but then not all those people have had updates since).Nobody wrote:Are pretty much all the RDs under review right now or does it actually mean something at Penn?
The only conjecture that seems to have any reliability is that 2 UR updates is fairly predictive (up until this point) of acceptance. There have been people who have had two UR dates who have not been accepted (yet), as well as people who have only gone UR once and have been accepted, so infer from your own dates what you will.

+1. Although, someone earlier in this thread said he got in with a 3.79, so maybe there's hope?smokeylarue wrote:Looking at LSN, there seems to be a VERY strange aversion to applicants with GPA between 3.6 and 3.8.

To be fair, this is likely just a LSN quirk. Keep in mind that LSN is just a limited sample of all the applicants and it is extremely early in the admissions cycle. Relax.acadec wrote:+1. Complete or UR?ColumbiaChamp wrote:what has been generally the time span from the first complete to a decision so far?
For the latter, it seems like 2-3 weeks. A lot of people went UR for the first time toward the end of November and just heard back.

Went UR the first time 11/29 or 11/30 (IIRC) and then again 12/15. Was hoping that was a good sign, but now it's been a week since that last UR date. I feel like most people heard back quicker after their 2nd date.addy11 wrote:Complete or UR?ColumbiaChamp wrote:what has been generally the time span from the first complete to a decision so far?

UR 11/21, then again 12/8, and not a word since. Has anyone else had a wait like that after the second UR?Real Madrid wrote:Went UR the first time 11/29 or 11/30 (IIRC) and then again 12/15. Thanks! My current UR date is 12/20, but I'm pretty sure my app first went under review sometime in mid-November... can't remember the exact date.

Proud of you even though I don't know you. And you have given me hope. I hope you are on LSN and can fill in that gpa gap we've been stressing over in this thread.dux90 wrote:In via phone call! 3.6/170, RD, applied first week of October. Soooooooo happy
