This is mostly right according to LSN. The holds/wait lists/rejections seemed to go out later (most weren't received until early Feb, whereas most of the early submitters who got good news got it during the last week of January in 2011).
If you look at this data sorted by decision date, you'll see that there seem to be plenty of people (mostly holds I'm guessing), who applied well before New Year last cycle and didn't hear anything definitive from Columbia until April:

Anyway, my point is that even though there's a strong possibility that most people who submitted early will hear this week, it's not necessarily a sure thing. Fingers crossed for tons of VCEs starting very soon! Good luck everyone!
