Went over to the Law School yesterday to ask a question and to act as a tour guide for a prospective planning/law dual degree student. We talked to Jennifer Kott, who said that another round of admissions should be going out next week and that the number of current admissions (as of yesterday) is around 250.

Interesting. Using the 2009 ABA data as a rough basis, they're a little over half way done admitting our class (2,905 apps, 426 offers, 262 mat). However, according to last year's data they had a little over 3,100 apps so that's really a rough assessment.

I am one of the 3/23 admits and just got a letter from Dean States in the mail. It essentially says the same thing as the email, but it states that the first deposit is due by Sunday, May 1st, instead of April 15th. Wanted to pass this along to everyone in case they hadn't gotten the letter yet.

Well, I am glad that recent admits do not have to make a rushed decision, even though my deposit is due April 15th. But I've had 2 months to think about it.

ETA: I was under the impression that only recent admits got this extension. Maybe they will extend it for everyone, as Becca is thinking?

I will probably call Monday to check and pass the answer along to all so that everyone can plan their deposits accordingly (waiting for scholly money, etc.).

Does anyone know if UNC has a history of negotiating scholarships?? I havent seen anyone talk about it since they started giving them out recently.

My understanding is that UNC's scholly offers are accompanied by a statement to the effect that they do not match offers from other schools or negotiate their offer, but I don't know this first hand. Maybe one of the $$ recipients on the thread can confirm...

Nope, don't think so. I think they're scrambling to get them sent out right now, so if they have them done they're not going to wait until a certain day of the week because it's their favorite day.

that seems like a good way to lose out on the top candidates of the class (who are actually considering unc)
