I think it's for state funded schools. I'm pretty sure privates can do what they please. While AA isn't legally permissable, I'm sure it factors into adcomm's minds in a variety of ways, whether consciously or not.thegreatk wrote:Ah, I bet the Stanford ug helped a ton. Again, congratulations.

URM? I ask cause it looks like we are similar...drastic upward trend...I had basically my dad's entire office read my PS and they all loved it...and good UG school. I'm hoping it will be enough. thanks for the hope!chebbyshev wrote:Just got the call! Got in with a 161/3.3....I'm shocked. Congrats to everyone else who heard today as well. Anyone else going to the admit weekend in April?

Look up two posts. AA not allowed in public schools in California.
Which I just learned 20 minutes ago.

Re: UCLA? 2011
The UC "holistic" application process allows them to get around this, by requiring all members of the adcomm who review an app to review the WHOLE thing, even if the numbers are very low. Let's URM and hardship candidates express their diversity through the PS.thegreatk wrote:Look up two posts. AA not allowed in public schools in California.

I didn't know that either...I wonder how much they follow that...I've heard schools like USC and UCLA are trying to boost their east coast appeal..trying to become more national like harvard or yale...so might help some of us east coasters over here.

In today! Got the call while at practice. 174, 3.85 OOS RD (and from the east coast!), complete mid Nov. No $ though
. UCLA was one of my top choices, but it'd take some $ to sway me away from Boalt...

I cannot for the life of me imagine why they haven't gotten back to you yet. Because I (a) can't seem to stop thinking about the whole "app process" and (b) can't stand to constantly think about my own process, I've actually spent an inordinate amount of time being puzzled by this.r6_philly wrote:Just got a call from SoCal! I would've felt the same way. Still waiting to hear from USC, UCLA, and Berk.

It's especially upsetting since there is no way I am going to move across the country when they are not offering a relocation bonus, and I pulled my resume off the job sites already.kelesands wrote:HILARIOUSr6_philly wrote: ETA: it went

Is it bad that median GPA/75th LSAT hasn't heard anything from UCLA?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
