I emailed admissions and they said they're anticipating opening the application on 10/31. That has to be the latest I've heard of for any larger school.amta wrote:hmmm. this is troubling.Eli1 wrote:Anyone else having trouble accessing LSU's application on the LSAC website? I got accepted last year. My impression is that it's pretty well known, even in the Northeast, to be a top school.clueless801 wrote:Anyone here applying to Emory? I never looked at it because I was nervous it wouldn't let me come back to NYC but LST is saying 13.2% of its graduates end up going to New York, and I'm wondering if it's self selection that over 50% work in Georgia.
I don't think an Emory grad would have any advantage in NYC over a Fordham grad though.

More people are applying to law school this year vs. last year (which goes against the trend in recent years). More apps means that adcomms can be more selective, which means that your odds of getting into any one school (esp. around the medians) is marginally lower.dietcoked wrote:Anyone care to explain what upcycle means?

Finally got an LSAT waiver from Columbia! Nearly sent it yesterday, glad I waited one more day!

I feel a bit like Carrie when the school I have no shot at getting in sends me a fee waiver and an email congratulating me on my LSAT score and encouraging me to apply. Fool, you and I can both see I am well below median. What are you trying to pull on me?

Who is helping y'all with your applications?
I have no one to read my essays.
Each T14 wants a different essay and seems to much to ask 1-2 people to read through all of them .

You should realistically be able to get away with writing one PS and one DS for every school. Most you should have to do is swap a couple sentences out.urmlaw17 wrote:Who is helping y'all with your applications?

I personally used a consultant, but PS swaps seem pretty common on TLS. And if you only have one copy of the two major statements, then it shouldn’t be a burden on close friends to read either. I would also check your school’s career services to see if your law school advisor also reads drafts.

Sent my first apps off today. Eeeeek!
Going to the Houston forum this weekend to talk to some deans about schools I'm on the fence on, try to squeeze some more fee waivers out of people. Will apply to some more after the forum. Then waiting until second LSAT in January to see if I'm doing a 2nd wave with higher ranked schools.

I had about 5 friends who are teachers or journalists and my mom read through every time I wrote a new version of my personal statement. They really didn't seem to mind.urmlaw17 wrote:Who is helping y'all with your applications?

I also submitted the exact same personal statement for every school minus swapping out the name of the school in the last paragraph. Differentiation is for Why X statements, which I proofread myself since they're pretty standard.

I got a lot of great feedback from fellow forum users. I only made small changes here and there for the various schools I am submitting to.
I also believe one of the best things you can do for your editing process is remove yourself from the work for a week or two, then go back and read it aloud. It's amazing what you catch reading aloud vs reading silently in both areas of grammar as well as flow and rhythm.

This is probably a silly question, but what should you title documents when you attach them? Like for a personal statement should it say "Blackmamba8 Personal Statement" just "Personal Statement" or what?

Mine were "X Law Personal Statement" to make sure I attached the correct version to the correct school since I put the law school name in my last sentence.blackmamba8 wrote:This is probably a silly question, but what should you title documents when you attach them? There ya go, Pewpew. (And congrats to Kenyadigg1t!) I also posted one earlier this week. I promise, there are acceptances, just very few of them as exciting as the one I'm quoting. The party is just getting started.KENYADIGG1T wrote:Been posting it everywhere I'm so hype...

Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
Aii Imma ask again if anyone can help - I'm going to ask my boss to write me a letter but since I draft all her communications anyway and bc I hear from others, I'm expecting to draft the letter for her. I'm going to go in with a draft ready at hand. Can anyone who mightve been in this situation point me in the direction of the resources they used - or provide some tips to make sure it sounds like its the boss writing and not me? Everything in the letter is going to be genuine because she has praised me time and again so those are the examples i'm using, it's just a matter of putting pen to paper for her :/ waghh helppppp.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
