Not I. I'm starting to get stir crazy because I wanted to visit in February while I have some free time, but I don't want to waste the cash on plane tickets if they aren't going to offer me anything...benwyatt wrote:Anyone hear about scholarships this week?

Those who have finished Darrow interviews, care to share any of the questions you were asked? What was the general tone of the interview like?

Pretty much exactly like an admissions interview except it felt more of a back and forth.FastRun wrote:Those who have finished Darrow interviews, care to share any of the questions you were asked? What was the general tone of the interview like?

Admitted in early November and still hadn't heard anything about scholarships. Emailed the finaid office today, and they informed me that I wasn't offered any money. Unless I get a big offer from a peer school to use as leverage, I'll be withdrawing soon. Good luck to those still waiting!

Aw man, that means I could be staring at my email for no reason?! I'd hoped they'd at least send out a "We can't offer you anything." update...gunners94 wrote:Admitted in early November and still hadn't heard anything about scholarships. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
ahhhh im probably in the same boat. How low in the rankings do we think would be a "peer school"? Michigan is my dream school but I have a huge scholly from WUSTL and can't justify the price of Michigan with absolutely no $. Even a third of WUSTL's offer from Michigan would make it a lot easier to choose UMich.gunners94 wrote:Admitted in early November and still hadn't heard anything about scholarships. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
I was admitted ED on November 25th with GPA > 75th and Median > LSAT > 25th. About two weeks later I received scholarship information. I was offered 30k. I then retook in December and got my LSAT to their 75th. Within a week they emailed me without me contacting them first informing me that my scholarship offer had been revised to 75k, which is roughly half tuition, even though I had already deposited and committed myself to the school even more than ED. Michigan seems to be to be pretty prompt with distributing and updating scholarship information even in cases where it wouldn't be expected (like in the case of an ED candidate like me). It's certainly worth a call, but if it's been months and you haven't received information, it may be likely that you were not offered any money.
On a more positive note, Michigan definitely seems like they are not overly stingy with ED admits. They more than doubled my offer as a result of my retake even after I had already deposited. If I was not summer start, I would definitely be retaking. In my case, 2 points (which equated to about 2 more questions right) more than doubled my scholarship offer, and I didn't even have to negotiate. Don't leave any points on the table, people! I know the LSAT sucks, but debt sucks far more!
I hope this helps! Good luck, everyone. I hope to see some of you in May!

It was pretty informal. Something along the lines of "I was admitted in early November and have not heard anything regarding scholarships yet. I was wondering if this means I did not receive any scholarship aid." My stats are 166/3.83.cdavis1024 wrote:What exactly did you say when you emailed them? Was just accepted this morning via the summer program! Firstly, I'm pumped. Secondly, does anyone know how exactly this works out with regards to tuition? Is the summer semester just another full-time semester, and are summer starters expected to finish a semester early (essentially making it a wash, money-wise?). Also wondering how long before I hear about financial aid, but I'm not too optimistic on that front.

I was accepted slightly under 2 weeks ago.

It's my understanding that summer starters have the option of taking a semester off in the middle and graduating in 3 years in May with the rest of their class, or going full speed ahead and graduating a semester early in December.gazorpazorp wrote:Was just accepted this morning via the summer program! Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
Right. According to an email that they sent out to admits a week or two ago about the summer start, most summer starters graduate in December. If you want Big Law or clerkships, that might mean you'll end up sitting around until your job starts in the fall, but it gives you extra time to pass the bar and maybe take a vacation. If you want PI, it could conceivably be an advantage, because you'll be job hunting at a different time of year than the huge rush of people graduating in May.cdavis1024 wrote:It's my understanding that summer starters have the option of taking a semester off in the middle and graduating in 3 years in May with the rest of their class, or going full speed ahead and graduating a semester early in December.gazorpazorp wrote:Was just accepted this morning via the summer program! But yeah, taking a semester off to do something cool at some point is also an option, so that you can graduate in May.
