Held is different from WL, right? I could be wrong, but I feel like I remember a lot of amazing candidates being held last year, and those that stayed on were pretty much all eventually accepted. It's YP, but it's not YP in that they're WL/rejecting good applicants.

yeah held means that your app is still under review, and a decision will come by April 24th. I think they notify you of being held to see if you'll write a LOCI (based on the wording of the hold email, which says that if you wish to write a LOCI to do so by March 23 or something).pylon wrote:Held is different from WL, right?
If you get WL'd then Columbia notifies you that your app is in the "Reserve" category.

I don't know the merit/need breakdown but I think everyone who wants a non-named grant needs to fill out the questionnaire.

From what I've gathered, Columbia pretends that all non-named scholarship money is "need-based", so everybody who didn't receive a named scholly needs to fill out the form

Are the people above both 75ths who've been held out of the running for scholarships? Is it possible to receive a scholarship after being held? (Merit based)

Has Columbia sent out any dings yet? I can't find any on LSN.
I've been waiting for a decision since November. At this point, it would be a relief to hear back anything.

I was a hold/admit last year. I know of at least one other girl in my class who was as well. I did write a locipylon wrote:Held is different from WL, right? Lol reserve. Reverse splitter here so no surprise. Thought the interview went well though.

Received my acceptance box from Columbia. I seriously thought it was a legal textbook at first. It's a pretty big package

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a conundrum. I've recently been admitted to Columbia Law. However, due to a stupid oversight on my part missing the deadline to drop a course, I find myself at risk of failing one of my courses in my last term. Even if I fail this course, I'll still have all my requirements to graduate and my other marks will be consistent with the GPA that I used to apply with. My question is do you guys think failing a course in my last term will jeopardize my admission?

Don't post the same thing in 3(+?) different threads.cloudysky wrote:Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a conundrum. I've recently been admitted to Columbia Law. Step one: Don't spam TLS. Making your own thread is a better option than copy-and-pasting a single message into many.yot11 wrote:Don't post the same thing in 3(+?) different threads.cloudysky wrote:Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a conundrum. Step two: The only thing still in your power to change is whether you fail the class or not. So get out there and pass it! If you're qualified enough to get accepted at top schools, you should be able to pull out a D at least in a given class, provided you work hard enough. The bulk of the semester is still ahead of you. Get to work
