Has anyone received any non-Mordecai scholarship offers yet? I figured I'd ask since they said during my interview that they'd start going out at the end of the month.

Any one know when PT apps are due by? Just wondering when the RD applicant turnaround rate is gonna speed up. I'm guessing us early Jan applicants are pretty screwed for scholarships at this point.

From my PT email: "The Priority Track program allows you to submit your application materials at any time prior to the February 15 deadline."ticklemesilly wrote:Any one know when PT apps are due by? I also have my scholarship interview coming up in a few days. Any tips or curveballs I should watch out for?

Awesome, thanks so much for the info! This gives me a good idea on how to prepare even though the interview seems fairly straightforward.af0890 wrote:Just had mine this morning. It's only a few questions:radio1nowhere wrote:

1) tell us your story and what led you to apply to law school
2) what are you looking for in a law school education?
3) describe special circumstances that would make you a good candidate for need and/or merit aid
The last one is most important--they said they just want to hear what they're not seeing on your original app and the need access application. family circumstances, any new job changes or honors you didn't describe yet, etc. I think they definitely want to hear if you're paying for law school on your own. they also said they review scholarship apps in the order in which you interview, as soon as they have need access.
Hope your interview went well

Grr if scholly interviews are already being granted us non-PT people are screwed for scholarships right? Anyone know of anyone being admitted in March or late in the game and still receiving a decent amt of money?
I got 75K at Michigan and I was hoping for something similar at Duke...

If it makes you feel better, some of us (PT admits) were interviewed a month ago and have yet to receive any kind of news from financial aid. I think Duke has yet to make a single non-Mordecai offer. Michigan didn't really disadvantage later admits in their aid process (at least from the awards I saw) so I hope Duke does the same for y'all.ticklemesilly wrote:Grr if scholly interviews are already being granted us non-PT people are screwed for scholarships right? Michigan is unique though- they don't even disadvantage binding ED applicants.lc39 wrote:If it makes you feel better, some of us were interviewed a month ago and...nothing (yet). Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I don't think that's completely true, my theory is that they give a few large awards to EDers so as to avoid the "fucking over ED admits" reputation that law schools have.ticklemesilly wrote:Michigan is unique though- they don't even disadvantage binding ED applicants.lc39 wrote:If it makes you feel better, some of us were interviewed a month ago and...nothing (yet). It is optional. They say that if you are not interested in scholarships they'll admit you right away.morimoto1991 wrote:is the duke scholarship interview really optional? and is the interview with admissions or the fin aid office?
The interview is with a member of the scholarship committee which I gather is a similar group to the one that reads applications for admittance.

the interview may be optional, but if you want scholarships you should definitely interview. the first rule of interviews is to accept the interview.

Thanks! is there a deadline by which I need to respond if i want to interview? I probably will, but I would like to wait a week or so until I hear back from some other schoolsJFO1833 wrote:It is optional. The email I received said that they were doing interviews until March 20, but asked that you schedule at least 7 days in advance so that you can prepare for it.morimoto1991 wrote:Thanks! is there a deadline by which I need to respond if i want to interview? Applied and completed application 10/2. Went under review 11/13 and still haven't heard anything. I assume this isn't a good sign?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
