Wait-listed via PT. My numbers are 174, 3.99. WTF? I haven't heard back from any of the schools I applied to in late November and starting my cycle off with a wait-list from Duke is discouraging/confusing

Probably not until after the first deposit deadline... so Duke can see who is making the commitment and if they need to dip into the WLekbrown09 wrote:Not sure if this already came up, but does anyone know when they start pulling people from the waitlist? I keep seeing highly qualified people being waitlisted... I have good numbers but not nearly as good as some of the other people posting here. Any idea about when I should expect a definite decision?

Duke hasn't really YPd at all for priority track. Did you write a Why Duke?moneybagsphd wrote:FTFYcerealdan wrote:PopTorts13 wrote:Wait-listed via PT. My numbers are 174, 3.99. WTF? Yes, I wrote the optional essay. The more I think about it, a few of the schools I applied to do have common YPing habits, UMich, UVA, and UPenn; I just hope my fate doesn't pan out the same for these other schools.

Well the trend in PT has been everyone gets in except below median GPA splitters. Maybe things are changing because you applied so late in the cycle.PopTorts13 wrote:Yes, I wrote the optional essay. Absolutely correct (below median GPA splitter here) - PT WLNelson wrote:Well the trend in PT has been everyone gets in except below median GPA splitters. Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just accepted through PT:
LSAT: 169
GPA: 3.9 (from Vanderbilt)
Pretty amazed that a 174/3.99 didn't get in. They probably just didn't expect you to attend or something.
Anyway, there is like an 80% chance I'm going to end up going to Duke. I'm so excited.

It seems like after PT admits, Duke's average GPA will be sky-high. Hopefully they need to up the LSAT median a few points, show some love to the splitters!

2 years of work experience as a high school teacher and coach. I also have graduate work as well. Not to draw things out here though, just to inform. Best of luck everyone.swoozie wrote:well...I'm below median GPA and I got PT accepted. I do have 2 yrs of WE though.

I agree it's probably just they don't expect you to go. Seems like you'll probably get into a significantly higher ranked school, so if I were you, I wouldn't stress about it! =)
