Judging by past cycles isn't accurate because they extended the deadline this year.samsonyte16 wrote:I think the odds of acceptance are significantly lower after this week, but judging by past cycles a few more people will sneak in near the deadline. Sorry--I meant the deposit deadline around the end of April. And yeah--agreed on the timing being different because of the extension. My general point was just that a few more people do get in after the big wave in march.

Re: Yale 2011 applicants
A while back Yale communicated that they would have decisions out by late March/early April. That said, is there anything to be gained/lost (perhaps by being annoying) in notifying Yale of an upcoming (April 15) scholarship decision deadline?
Yes, I would have to withdraw all my other acceptances and applications. (And how can you withdraw from Yale without KNOWING?)
If the consensus is to go for it, then is the preferred method e-mail or hard copy letter? Thanks in advance Team Yale.

Re: Yale 2011 applicants
Have you asked the other school to extend its deadline? I think people have done this successfully before. Personally, I think scholarship deadlines should just be the same everywhere, but I don't make the rules...I think on Asha's blog it says something like you are welcome to let them know if you have a looming scholarship deadline, and they will put a note of that in your file. But that doesn't necessarily mean they will be able to render a decision faster. They might be able to notify you faster, maybe by emailing you immediately rather than waiting until the next day to call you. If you look in the blog you should find this somewhere.cucullu wrote:A while back Yale communicated that they would have decisions out by late March/early April. Re: Yale 2011 applicants
I also have a question about scholarship deadlines. It's only worth notifying Yale about them if they're binding offers, right? I've been offered two major scholarships, neither of which require that I withdraw other applications, only that I put down deposits by April 15th. So when everyone else is talking about notifying Yale of a pending scholarship deadline, it's only because accepting the scholarship would require withdrawing any other apps, correct? Just wanted to clarify.

This is my understanding, although I think a lot of people would want to know before depositing. That's a lot of money to throw away.juliachild-ish wrote:I also have a question about scholarship deadlines. It's only worth notifying Yale about them if they're binding offers, right? Thanks! I'm really psyched. And yeah, 8 members have been added to the Facebook group in the past day, so it looks like it's happening.neonx wrote:Congratulations! Amazing.godofcoffee wrote:Just thought I'd let people know I was admitted today. Complete late Feb.

Re: Yale 2011 applicants
Congratulations, guys, that's amazing!! Looks like this upcoming week will be the last big push. Thank God, I'll have Columbia's ASP to distract me from agonized phone-watching (though I'm still holding out for you until the bitter end, Yale. Call me!).godofcoffee wrote:Thanks! Re: Yale 2011 applicants
anyone who has been accepted recently feel like sharing your numbers?
also, anyone have any idea what percent of those wait-listed typically end up being admitted?

edit: I think the percentage of those on the WL that end up getting admitted is pretty high. The wait list isn't too big and there are a lot of deferrals.

My numbers are roughly 3.95 and 175. I know I just got into my top-choice school, but I still like to remain mysterious.

Do it! Thanks for being willing to share a ball park. (Although, while those are fantastic numbers, we all know they're just a piece of the picture of your successful application.) Many congrats!godofcoffee wrote:My numbers are roughly 3.95 and 175. I know I just got into my top-choice school, but I still like to remain mysterious.

Re: Yale 2011 applicants
Alright people,
I'm anticipating a rejection, like most people. Yale is the only top school to which I applied in the interest of saving as much money as possible.
My numbers are as follows: 3.5/165 - is it worth it at all to wait it out despite deposit and scholarship deadlines approaching? Thoughts!?!?!

@drums!: Just this month you posted your stats as 2.8 GPA & 165 LSAT. How did your GPA rise so much in three weeks ?
P.S. Also see that you posted your stats as a 3.5 GPA & 167 LSAT.

Ruh-roh... given the extreme likelihood that not every single person admitted is on that group, that only leaves a few slots left! Hrrmph. Anybody else out there still alive from *gulp* November and before? Readying myself for the ding, or WL (or perhaps Yale would take some degree of pleasure in making one last round of calls during Stanford's ASW?
) Que sera sera!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
