Held as well. Ditto to all the grumbling.

Also "held" today, sent application 12/20 with no complete date. Didn't interview. Overall not disappointed, but it does make me less confident moving forward...
I interpreted "Hold" to be a glorified waitlist, is this the consensus? Probably will withdraw since I've already been accepted at UVA, and Michigan...

Put on hold as well. I am just trying to think of things actually worth updating them about...Just found a random part-time job and not much else has happened. I am still hopeful though

Did you guys get an email telling you to check your status or did you just check the status checker on your own? Condolences for the hold email.ccourt14 wrote:Put on hold as well. Edit: Also love the cheery twitter update they put for all our hold emails. I really don't like how schools call "holds" and "deferrals" a decision. It's not, really, they are just saying they will "decide later".

Ditto. Long, convoluted process of reading email, retrieving ID number, entering ID number, opening PDF. Meh, oh well.

Does anyone know if negotiating for scholarship is a good idea when visiting the school? I was accepted, but I doubt I'll be able to go pending gargantuan scholarship.

Also held. At least it's not a rejection! Although it will suck waiting until April to hear again. I applied 11/15.

well... that is upliftingbeef wellington wrote:Held. It's gonna be a long cycle.
I had never realized they "held" people until a few days ago when I was going over LSN--there are ten early applications I found that get held till late April, then all but one of them get waitlisted (two of the WLs end up getting in). Only 2 of the 9 WLs could have been YP, the others just seem to be WLs so I'm not sure why they'd wait three months to call them that.

NU doesn't YP, those WL are probably people without work experienceelliefont wrote:well... that is upliftingbeef wellington wrote:Held. It's gonna be a long cycle.

Does an on-campus interview increase your chances significantly if you are "on hold"? I'm thinking of flying to Illinois during Spring Break now...

Does it significantly increase your chances? I don't know. But an on-campus interview can only help. Short of pulling a 178 on the February LSAT, it's probably the best thing you can do to improve your chances.cindytran872 wrote:Does an on-campus interview increase your chances significantly if you are "on hold"? f I were on hold, and if I really wanted NU, I would definitely sign up for an on-campus interview.

Yah, it's just that I'm from California...and it's pretty expensive to fly there (or I'm just poor)...so just want to know how much it impacts the final decision.

Re: Northwestern 2010
I did one in november, I'm held. my numbers are on the mediocre side of average for them, though. so maybe if you think you got held despite good numbers, I suppose its worth it.cindytran872 wrote:Yah, it's just that I'm from California...and it's pretty expensive to fly there (or I'm just poor)...so just want to know how much it impacts the final decision.

If we weren't in this big held batch but we still should have heard by now (way past 8 week deadline), do people think this means flat-out reject? or acceptance? i have strong numbers for NU but only 1 year of work experience.

NU isn't exactly the most holistic school. I'd bet its an acceptance.bubbagump wrote:If we weren't in this big held batch but we still should have heard by now (way past 8 week deadline), do people think this means flat-out reject? or acceptance? i have strong numbers for NU but only 1 year of work experience.

Its only 4 days past the 8 week "promised" deadline. It pretty clearly states on your status checker that if you submitted before Dec (even if you submitted in September), the 8 week waiting period begins on Dec 1.bubbagump wrote:If we weren't in this big held batch but we still should have heard by now (way past 8 week deadline), do people think this means flat-out reject? or acceptance? i have strong numbers for NU but only 1 year of work experience.

stupid question I'm sure, but as far as replying and expressing continued interest, are we supposed to edit the pdf and send it back or print and mail? (asking bc of their paperless system business) thanks!

I faxed it. I think they just mean that if you send in LOCI or whatever, those should be emailed, not mailed.jackiebird wrote:stupid question I'm sure, but as far as replying and expressing continued interest, are we supposed to edit the pdf and send it back or print and mail?
