I just sent all my apps. the last week in December so most of my files are complete...in review at indiana university

Rejected from umn today with numbers way above their means. Freaking out.

I was rejected at Iowa with numbers way above their means AND I'm an Iowa resident. But I was accepted at UMN and Georgetown. Admissions are a baffling thing. Keep your chin up and good luck.

I feel like this happens from time to time (especially with state schools where youre not a resident....unless youre a resident of MN, in which case I'm even more sorry). It's unfortunate, but with solid numbers like that you'll definitely be getting into schools just as good.

I sure hope so. I live in CA. Someone else say something nice. I need it.

That's a tough break but don't let it get you down. This fall I noticed on LSN that last year UMN seemed to WL/Reject a number of people who were auto-admits (at least more than a lot of the other schools I was looking at.) The key seemed to be getting your application in early. Maybe you just missed that mark?

It's also possible they fucked up and didn't evaluate your new score (or if your first score was good enough to get in to UMN, maybe they question why you'd retake?)

Regardless, I'm sure it's just a bump in the road of what will turn out to be a great cycle. Best of luck!

Thanks a ton (also thanks to the other people who said kind things). I was at 164/3.65 before my retake and now I'm at 171/3.65. My hope is that they saw the increase and figured I'd only applied to hedge against a poor retake. Who knows.

I'm feeling better now. I really could use some good news though. I'm on Duke's priority track, so I should get word from them sometime next week.
