I'm looking at $105k debt total. Less if I live somewhat frugally and make decent money summers.
That amount of debt still freaks me out though.

Debt honestly doesn't freak me out. Just motivates me to work hard so I can pay it off. I see it as an investment. Hoping to live healthy but frugal on trader joe's and limiting my drinks lol.

It's probably an age thing too. I'm a tad older so I have a better grasp on the implications of being in the red and less time to pay it off before I retire.

It's a personality thing to. Plus yeah I'm so young. I'm 24 and I'll be 27 when I finish.

I think the age/life experience def plays a factor. When I was 24 I'd probably pay sticker and not look back. But graduating with a small amount of loans and seeing how much of a pain in the ass it is to pay off really has made me debt adverse now lol.

Law Day will be my first time visiting CA, so I'll have to see if I like it. I'm a gun collector, so I'm not sure if the weather or money is nice enough for me to give up one of the few things I like to spend money on.

Unless you don't like the sun, the beach, great weather 99% of the year, hiking, shopping, and more, I think you'll like it. If you're worried about guns, plenty of gun enthusiasts in Cali lol. We just have rep of being more strict as a state but pretty sure you'll be fine. If that's the least of your concerns, I think you'll do great here. I should be a pitch man for USC/Cali schools lmao.

The stupid round in chamber indicator on semi-auto pistols and the AR15's that don't even resemble the real thing is what gets me. I have a lot of possessions that are illegal to cross the border with and I would have to part with before starting school in CA. I think I would love the weather and the bass fishing nearby, but I wouldn't be able to spend my money on the same things I already do

Damn didn't think about the AR15 thing. You have a point it'll be different than in your state. But aren't the other top law schools you're looking at also in states that are strict on guns? Or is CA really unique and not comparable to NY, Illinois, other states w t-14 schools?

Yeah I've been struggling w school data for the longest because of this sort of unquantifiable factor which is ppl's choice to do x law, or choice not to, how much was choice, etc. Obvi it's good to look at the data, but still it doesn't tell all

It's not really the main indicator of how you will do but it is really important. You are the main indicator because you have to do well. The positions don't just fall out of the sky. Basing your odds off where people ended up last year is helpful because you look and see where others who were in your position ended up. It also depends how you feel. If you feel you will end up at the top and the percentage is good then no worries.
