Hey everyone! Longtime lurker because I never really had a shot. Thought you'd like to know though -- got my ding from Yale at 8:40. Went complete mid January. Good luck!

Same and is it just me or is "waitlist update" a misleading subject line?
Yes, awfully deceptive, especially since it came so long after the initial waitlist
I mean, they do say there won't be waitlist movement until early May, so I wasn't really expecting anything on that front.
Now no one ever said I was being rational there

notorious_mig wrote:Hi friends do we know to what degree Yale takes into consideration application updates? Aka like do they add them to your file or nah? I got accepted to/presented at a conference (Baby's First Conference™) and got my thesis published (Baby's Second Publication™) so I sent them an e-mail after each of the two aforementioned notifications and got the same response as anyone gets from Clarence Thomas aka silence
If your update comes in before Asha looks at it, it goes in your file, from what I understand.

Once Asha looks at it, it either goes to the reject pile, the faculty, or the admit pile (very rarely). If your update comes in at this point, if you're in the former and latter cases, your update is moot. In the middle case, it's not clear if they'll update your file if they get it after Asha's initial screening but before sending it to faculty. In any case, once it's sent off to faculty, faculty won't see any updates to it.

At that point, the only way updates will matter will be if you end up on the waitlist.
Bless u dear sweet child this is the most clear explanation I could've asked for. 10/10 would admit to YLS

Dinged. Time stamp 8:41. Sucks but if I'm going to get rejected at least it's from the best. Can't even be mad

I'm below both 25ths but not getting a ding email is irrationally making my hope grow.

Didn't know hope could be bad, but oh boy it is
