That makes a ton of sense, of course, and I appreciate you whacka and gobears for being kind in sharing your perspectives. I know it's silly to whine at all, considering that for most schools, you wait at least 2 months to hear anything at all.gobears!! wrote:Yea, I've heard they weren't around. Some of the faster turnarounds were in very early September when they weren't doing too much out of the office/the incoming class had already started.whacka wrote:seriously don't worry about it, you shouldn't try to glean anything from how long you waited past your interview. Like others have said, I'm pretty sure the other adcomms have to run things by Cordel, and since it's recruiting season, they're always out of the office visiting other places. I don't think the amount of time people wait after their interview has anything to do with the strength of their candidacy.fliptrip wrote:

Thanks folks! Do I have to comb the forums for the Duke v. UVA debate or does anyone in these parts wanna share their quick thoughts? Obviously I don't know anything about $ yet, but basically these were choices 1 and 2, so I'm pretty much near the end.

That's ok, there's still a chance of admittance. You can send a LOCI in a few weeks/months.carterjo wrote:Waitlisted

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Charlottesville has some good coffee spots (Mudhouse is good), but it sounds like you will like Richmond. It's the perfectly sized city IMO, with lots of charm across various neighborhoods. The cool parts are walkable; there's a good food and music culture, etc. The traffic is light but public transportation infrastructure sucks (though that shouldn't matter when visiting).Generally wrote:Sounds good. The only worry I have about Charlottesville is I have become quite accustomed to large cities with heaps of stuff to do and good coffee to drink. Sydney was perfect, and I love Nashville. I know Charlottesville wont be on par with those in terms of culture and what not, but thinking maybe Richmond so close could alleviate any concerns I have with small town Charlottesville. I will have to visit Richmond too when I visit UVA.urbanist11 wrote:
I've been there once. I found it to be a pretty cool city. Good food, the James River is pretty beautiful, nice old streets & homes. Plus there's plenty of stuff within driving distance. Sorry that's not super specific. Overall it's a nice, medium-sized city.
Sorry for jacking this thread to answer this, lol, though I will be a UVA applicant soon.
