So you mean I'd better do the sleep-triggering and tiring-to-death application form? It seems to make sense.

But my numbers are both way off the 25th of Michigan. I started my law school application at the beginning of Sep. last year but for a very long time I kept failiing to pick up my spirits to work out a single personal statement, for any school. In the middle of Dec., I got an idea. I decided to apply to Michigan, not really pursuing the Wolverine itself, but just to squeeze emotional energy out of me to do the PS by imagining I may be accepted to Michigan Law. I know this practice is marajuana-like and pretty bitchy, but it did work! :D

Has anyone been admitted via status checker without an email update?... because my status checker says 'congratulations!' but hoping for an email to confirm

My email, and most people's recently, went out at about 6:30 Eastern Time, so you should have received something by now.

curious stuff, tho my gut says that you've not yet passed the critical period where you should e-mail/call admissions. if by EOD nothing, it's probably time to speak up. that's just my sense tho.

Email, but I hadn't refreshed my status checker since the morning yesterday, so I'm not sure when it updated.

Any current or former Michigan students have thoughts on the Lawyers Club? Worth the money, or is it better to just look for housing off-campus? I love the idea of a lawyer-only dorm, but it's relatively unusual.

Is it that expensive compared to other options? It's cheaper than my current living situation (though I'm outside Boston) and that's not in including electricity, heat, 12 meals a month, and the cost of paying part of my rent in the summer when I have a subletter. Seems like a good price

I agree (although I also live in a large, high-rent city). The convenience of not moving furniture is pretty big too, coming from across the country. But it's not 100% cheap. The site estimates that the dining hall meal plan works out to $9.75 per meal (lunch/dinner), which isn't exactly PB&J cheap. But I'm pretty obsessed with the photo gallery...

The lawyers club is a great option as a 1L. You might also consider the new munger dorm--which is insanely nice.

The lawyers club isn't overpriced once you factor in the value of all the meals and the convenience of living right next to the law school. The other thing to keep in mind is that it's unlikely you'll stay in Ann Arbor for the summer. With the LC, if you decide to stay in Ann Arbor, it's easy and cheap to sublet in A2 for the summer (so many students leave town), and if you decide to go elsewhere then you're not stuck trying to sublet. $13,080 (food included) for the year is quite reasonable.

In terms of other housing options. There's a pretty good mix of apartment buildings and townhouses around Ann Arbor. However, the houses tend to go early. Most are already rented for next fall. The apartment units that will remain available next summer tend to be a bit on the pricey end, as they capture people who aren't super well versed in renting cheaply in Ann Arbor. The LC or Munger would avoid all of the frustration with having to do that. If you're comparing to a large city, you might also consider a) no need for a car in Ann Arbor (just have zip car in case you need one), and b) public transportation (buses) is covered by tuition. The bus to the Detroit airport is $12. The train or bus to Chicago tends to run $20–$40.

For what it's worth, there's a decent number of apartments throughout Ann Arbor that come furnished.

But Nordi makes good points about the flexibility of living on campus. I'd add that the university is a decent landlord (keeping buildings clean and in good repair). The quality of off-campus housing and landlords may be variable.
