Yes. You will get a (rather bulky) FedEx package if you were admitted, and (although I cannot confirm this) you will just get a letter via USPS if you were rejected. So, I believe that you can sign up for FedEx notifications to see if any packages are on their way to your address.mohdban wrote:Decision mailed! Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2018 applicants
I can't sign up for fedex because I'm international. I tried contacting Vanderbilt and explained how the mail can take longer than a week to reach my address and that deposit deadlines are coming up and that I would not deposit elsewhere if I am admitted to VLS, they gave me the typical "we don't release decisions via emails
". In addition to that, I will be traveling next week for two weeks so I will not have access to my mail during that period.
I'm expecting a ding/WL, but in the 10% chance I'm admitted I would want to know so I can avoid depositing elsewhere.

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2018 applicants
Just received the standard "it will be a couple of more weeks" response to the email I sent yesterday that inquired about the status of my application. It is SO difficult to refrain from giving a snarky reply. Something along the lines of "Thanks for your prompt response. At least I know some communications from your office are capable of arriving before the second coming of Christ."
Perhaps something like that would expedite a rejection. But seriously, I'm *this close* to withdrawing out of protest. It's ridiculous already.

Don't blame you. I called Monday and with the typical "it'll be a couple more weeks" bullshit it was hard to hide my frustrationcafecreme15 wrote:Just emailed admissions, as I'm on my 14th week of waiting. It's not like the pressure is made up of self inflicted. Reading people posting about good spots for housing filling up, my weekend went from fun with the kids at a theme park to fun with the kids at rental offices

Decision mailed yesterday after over 12 week wait. Too bad I'm overseas at the moment and it's gonna take forever to get here.

I went on a serious apartment hunting adventure while in Nashville last weekend and I don't think this is true... maybe for some of the places immediately around the school, but almost all of the apartment complexes I looked at wouldn't let me put a deposit down because they won't know until 60 days before my move-in date (late July) what they'll have available (the current tenants have to notify management that they're not renewing their lease 60 days before the lease is up). So, rest a little easier-- there is time.KMart wrote:This early? God damn. I have to look into housing thenstorpappa wrote: Reading people posting about good spots for housing filling up,. Hi everyone,
Long time lurker/checking in. TLS has been extremely helpful! I have had a pretty sad cycle (5 rejections, 4 waitlists, 1 acceptance). Vanderbilt is my #1. I'm just wondering if I should stay positive or really start planning to wait for the next cycle.
Lsat = 25 Gpa = 50 decent(?) softs, non-urm
Is there still hope?
Thanks and congrats to all those admitted; best of luck to those still waiting!

Dude, so you have a 3.7-3.8 or so? How many times have you heard 're-take'? Anyways, I wouldn't count on it, unless your 1 acceptance was from a T-14, then its an indicator your softs were pretty good.B101 wrote:Hi everyone,

For the internationals here:
Try calling fedex, tell them your address and let them know you're expecting mail from Nashville/vanderbilt. I had a super helpful lady try and help (though I called too early, like 2-3 hours after getting DLS on my status checker, so vandy hadn't even sent the package out yet) and she said it was totally possible to track stuff.

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2018 applicants
As a former ambassador for my undergraduate institution, I had people ask me questions like this all the time. 'What do you hate about x?' or 'What do you wish you could change?' Honestly, I never had a good answer. I loved my school and I thought it was the greatest place in the world. I loved my experience there and I had nothing negative to say about it. My answers were often answers you would probably categorize as 'lame' like lack of diversity or redundancy in the food options at the dining hall. But that wasn't because I was solely focused on "selling" people. I was candid about everything else (as our admission office encouraged us to be). Sometimes, you can just actually really like the school you attend. That's a thing. And it's okay for that to be a thing. And people who like their school are going to be drawn towards ambassador/panelist jobs.supersplittysplitter wrote:Regarding the complaints about the student panel, I think that's pretty much par for the course at ASWs. You're not gonna get a straight answer if you ask "what's the worst thing about this law school?" All you're gonna get is spin and propaganda. At one ASW I went to everyone on the panel said the worst thing about the school was a lack of diversity; it was so lame and disingenuous that a five person panel could only come up with one answer.
Obviously it would be helpful for prospective students if we could get some more objective answers. Unfortunately, the professors and admitted students aren't trying to help us make a decision, they're just trying to sell us on their school.
All I'm saying is I don't think it's necessarily fair to assume people aren't being genuine, just because they don't have a lot of complaints.
