Just called and spoke with Naomi, who was super nice btw.scottidsntknow wrote:Is it supposed to say complete? Maybe you're missing something in your application. It seems like an unusually long wait to have not heard anything. Thanks!
She said there is nothing missing in my application and the admissions committee has full access to it.
Hopefully some kind of movement happens sometime soon.

And well at least you confirmed that all you can do is wait. Are your numbers more borderline?

Yeah, I'm between 25th/median LSAT and around 25th GPA. Makes sense, just wanted to double check. And yes, Naomi was great.scottidsntknow wrote:She's great.Uschoolqb10 wrote:Just called and spoke with Naomi, who was super nice btw.scottidsntknow wrote:Is it supposed to say complete? FWIW, my status is "Application documents received" as well. I'm assuming that means complete?

I got my scholarship info via email a few weeks after the acceptance.ub3r wrote:Got in via email! Woo!
As for scholarships, does that happen simultaneously with acceptance, or will it happen later if at all?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Hey all, just got done with my interview. I was surprised that, after the first few basic questions, it seemed like they were trying to sell me more than needing me to sell myself to them. One question I have that I'd rather ask others with experience instead of administration is how negotiable are scholarship offers? For a tad more info, my LSAT score is 1 below the median, but my GPA is above a 3.9, which makes me think I could get a lesser offer due to my LSAT. I'm also applying to Iowa, which is in state for me, and I'm above the 75% for both, so I'll probably get a good offer. Financial aid won't be my only factor when deciding, but it would be hard for me to justify accepting a significantly smaller offer that I can't negotiate up even if I like the school better.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Scholarships are very negotiable. One thing I may recommend is applying to schools like USC, Vanderbilt, Emory, etc. even if you don't plan on going to any of them. Yes you would have to pay for the application fees, but you can use them as bargaining chips when it comes to negotiating scholarships.

Congrats to all the recent admits!
Scholarships were negotiable last year. It will obviously depend on your initial offer, but I was able to increase my initial offer by using offers from other schools.cardinal511 wrote:Hey all, just got done with my interview. Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm also applying to Minnesota, Northwestern, Michigan, and Penn on top of Wash U and Iowa. Some of those are tougher to get into, but I hope to use the same idea you described of using school offers as bargaining chips with the hope that at the end I'll have several to choose from at around the same cost.keosu11 wrote:

Yeah def negotiable here. And with your numbers, you may not get a great offer at first, but may be able to get a very good offer when all is said and done. The person who said you need to apply to some of WASHU's peer schools and maybe some lower T14's was definitely on point. I don't think WASHU would consider Iowa a peer school, so I don't think it would help you much in negotiating. I tried with an Iowa type school last year and they wouldn't budge....until I tried with offers from better schools. Like the person above alluded to; it could cost you a few hundred dollars now, which sucks, but could save you tens of thousands in the long run.cardinal511 wrote:Hey all, just got done with my interview. Also FYI to everyone who is going to try this, I don't think they started giving bumps till like late March or early April last year, so keep in mind the cycle is like, less than halfway over. They prob aren't going to look at bumps until they have at least an idea of how the class is shaping up numbers wise. Then they can focus in on GPA or LSAT, whatever they need at that point.
I have some more specific advice for negotiating $$, but I will save that for later in the cycle. I was very fortunate to have a lot of success in negotiating with all my top 3 choices last cycle.
