Forgot to respond to this earlier.

From OP:
  • Everyone . . . not invited for the Dean's Scholarship ha to submit financial aid forms before receiving scholarship offers.
[*]All admits submit the Financial Aid sheet; must submit NeedAccess and parent tax returns if applying for need-based aid; must submit FAFSA and student tax returns if taking out any Federal loans.
[*]These scholarships began to come out on March 25th [last cycle].
Edit: From the admitted student FAQ page:
In general, we start sending out financial aid packages during early March.

I had two status checker updates in a row after a long time without any movement, one on 1/23 and another 1/24.
This is pretty interesting..

Has anyone been invited to apply for the Dean's Scholarship? I'm confused by the fact that the interview requests are supposed to be a YP thing but by the time I find out whether I'm in or not after my interview it will likely already be past (or really close to) the Feb 10th essay deadline listed in the OP...

I don't know what kind of stats people who get the Dean's scholarship usually have so obviously there is no guarantee I'd even get an invite but I'm just curious because I know at least one person couldn't even get an interview scheduled until sometime during February.

That timeline is mostly inapplicable this cycle since it's pretty clear they're doing something different with the dean's scholarships. If the interviews are to help gauge to whom they should award the scholarships, it's likely there will be no essay this year. Alternatively, it doesn't take that long to write it anyway, so they could just give everyone 2 weeks and make it due in March or something.

So basically don't expect a February 10th deadline for anything. We have no idea how it's going to work.

Actually, I would say it's primarily merit-based. I've been explicitly told that they've shifted from need to merit in recent years to stay competitive with other schools. LSN also bears this out, as people with higher numbers get more $$.

I have no idea what this means for ED admits with significant financial need though, since this is the first year they've done ED. I know a few people got a little $ off reserve last cycle, so if it follows that trend, you may still get something, but it likely won't be significant.

FWIW: Last cycle, I got in off reserve early and got 21k. :x

I'm on or above both medians and wrote a "Why Cornell?" But am still 11/6. Is anyone else in the same boat? What are we thinking, should I be concerned?

My complete date is a bit earlier (10/31) but no movement for me either.

To any of you who have already had your interview, were there any format differences/surprise questions or, if you already completed other interviews (Harvard, Chicago, UVA, etc), did it cover essentially the same ground?

Thanks!
