Has anyone admitted around the end of Nov./beginning of Dec. received their acceptance packet in the mail yet?

Does anyone know of any other schools that are as aggressive on the whole enrollment deposit/tuition thing? Shocking how much they ask for upfront compared to other T14s.

Ok. So we're in the same batch because that was the same for me. Don't remember them specifying in the acceptance letter as to when we will receive the packet. Hopefully it's before I go home for Christmas break. Thanks!amsong wrote:Nope. I was accepted on 10/15 and still haven't received anything from them beyond the initial letter. I just today got a link to the ASW, which from what I can tell contains nothing helpful regarding scholarships or other info.housebro13 wrote:Ok. They want 800 by May 1st and an additional 1200 in early June. Also, full tuition is due by July 29th. I haven't seen another school have anything close to this strict of a timeline (this is coming from someone admitted eight places already, this is the outlier in my case at least).leebs2 wrote:How much is it?dsn32 wrote:Does anyone know of any other schools that are as aggressive on the whole enrollment deposit/tuition thing? Ok That's like borderline ridiculous. Berkeley doesn't ask you to submit an enrollment deposit. They believe that your word is sufficient.dsn32 wrote:They want 800 by May 1st and an additional 1200 in early June. Also, full tuition is due by July 29th. $2,000 total is ridic. I thought UVA was hardlining last year with $500/$500 -- another problem this creates is for anyone who wants to negotiate aid. If you don't get your award until mid-March / April, you have small window in which to wait for your additional funding request.

And some T14 schools don't start pulling from their waiting list until May!justonemoregame wrote:dsn32 wrote:They want 800 by May 1st and an additional 1200 in early June. Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Absolutely! If Georgetown is your number 1 and you are already accepted, I say submit the $800 today and give yourself time to save the additional 1200 for June. I, on the other hand, am torn between a few schools at this point. Perhaps I should set two grand aside though, just to be safe.Regulus wrote:Honestly, though... if it is something you want and could change the rest of your life/career, $2000 isn't that much in the whole scheme of things.housebro13 wrote:And some T14 schools don't start pulling from their waiting list until May!justonemoregame wrote:$2,000 total is ridic. I was just extremely turned off by both the enrollment deposit procedure, as well as their description of need based aid, where at one point they had the nerve to say something to the effect of one having a "moral obligation" to donate to Georgetown in the future to repay the grants. Isn't the price of tuition at these school enough of a racket, let alone trying to guilt kids who will undoubtedly be taking out huge loans to cover a Georgetown education? Very surprised that was they way they went about trying to sell you on the school.

WOW! I just received my ASW login and saw the deadlines as well as the statement about the moral obligation to repay the Dean Tuition grants.....no words.dsn32 wrote:I was just extremely turned off by both the enrollment deposit procedure, as well as their description of need based aid, where at one point they had the nerve to say something to the effect of one having a "moral obligation" to donate to Georgetown in the future to repay the grants. Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Anyone in Louisiana / New Orleans area asked to do an alum interview? I got the email about two weeks ago, responded immediately (and gave them a pretty big travel radius), and haven't heard anything since.
I know our Civil Code keeps a lot of the T14 yankees from practicing here, so there might be a legit lack of alumni in the area. That doesn't keep me from getting nervous. I'm borderline as is, waiting isn't going to help me.

Their methodology must be accept and RETAIN. If they didn't use aggresive RETAIN methods than they would probably send out less acceptances.dsn32 wrote:I was just extremely turned off by both the enrollment deposit procedure, as well as their description of need based aid, where at one point they had the nerve to say something to the effect of one having a "moral obligation" to donate to Georgetown in the future to repay the grants. TBF, a lot of law schools have a "moral obligation" clause like that. I believe Cornell is one. And yeah, its revolting.dsn32 wrote:I was just extremely turned off by both the enrollment deposit procedure, as well as their description of need based aid, where at one point they had the nerve to say something to the effect of one having a "moral obligation" to donate to Georgetown in the future to repay the grants.
