Crossposting from the Vandy thread:

Was getting nervous about this thread, but just got snail mail in for 30k/year = 90k. Very happy about that. That makes it only 15k/year to go to Vanderbilt, which is pretty amazing for a school ranked that high. That is also a good chunk (about 10k) cheaper than UT with their 9500/year offer, even with in-state tuition...Vandy is only 1/2 spots behind UT- anyone have any idea if UT will up their game to match Vandy?

They have a peer school scholarship matching program. Vanderbilt is probably the closest peer UT has.

If the total cost of attendance at Vanderbilt is lower for you they should match.

Are any regular decision or ED-held applications still awaiting a response from UT? I know they have already accepted a few off the waitlist, but I'm not sure if they are exclusively looking at the waitlist at this point or if some applications are still under review.

Has anyone successfully negotiated with UT, even if you did not receive an initial scholarship offer? I have an offer from Vanderbilt that would make it $6500 a year cheaper than UT. Not much of a difference, I know, but a difference none the less. Is it worth a shot?

I don't see why not but remember you only get one scholarship negotiation so I wouldn't try until you have all your offers.

Monica Ingram addressed this question on the admitted students Facebook page. She said no.

Rejected via email. My former roomie who now lives in Houston is probably more disappointed than I am. Still, any rejection stings. Gotta say I wasn't really looking for a rejection email at 2:00 AM on a Saturday. Sly, Texas, very sly.

Texas has been and remains on par with Vandy and UCLA. Being tied for T14 didn't change that and neither has dropping to 16.

No argument there. But i'm not gonna lie, being considered T14 was kinda nice...

Shame that a lot of people were hoping this would start a slow climb for UT to go up the rankings, and instead it fell back down 2 spots.

I wonder if the current dean situation had anything to do with it...b/c it sure wasn't employment statistics
