2011 W&M JD Employment Profile

Yeah, that seems like a decent number of unemployed people. Need to see more 2011 numbers from other schools though to find out if its W&M or just the economy.

Based on what I've seen, it appears as though schools that are not located within a large (urban) legal market seem to continue to suffer a bit more than schools that are, even if the latter group is not "ranked" as well. Gross generalization, but it seems to hold true for many of the schools I'm considering anyway.

I'm not judging it based on the admissions staff. But if multiple peer schools are keeping in touch and working hard to get my attendance, why wouldn't I be put-off on some level by W&M?

Because you should judge schools based on things other than how impatient the admissions staff makes you. Like the employment stats above.

Remember the part about PEER schools who have been doing a great job of keeping in touch. Similar employment figures, rankings, etc...

W&M admissions has to do something to make themselves noteworthy. That is their job. As far as I'm concerned they are in competition for me, not the other way around.

This is actually one of the reason I like W&M over the peer schools I got accepted to. In my case, since my acceptance to W&M (which was the first one I received), I've gotten at least one e-mail or letter from them pretty much every week explaining some program/employment stats/congratulations/etc. We all want to feel wanted.

This is the kind of positive feedback I'm talking about. I'm glad to hear W&M is keeping in touch, it truly makes a big difference IMO. Obviously employment figures and wants/needs are most important, but as you said we all want to feel wanted.

I've experienced a lot of positive feedback as well! Lots of e-mails. I e-mailed Dean Shealy and got a response the same day at like 7:30 pm, Elizabeth Cavallari has been ridiculously helpful and kind! Everyone was just completely nice. I wouldn't mistake a lack of admissions response as them "not caring", they receive tons of applications every year! Don't give up on WM!

As for the employment figures, keep in mind its a recession and say a few prayers for a recovery in the next couple years. If you work hard, network, and are at the top of your class, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job. May have to move to the middle of no where for one, but we'll all get jobs...eventually

Let these people judge WM on "mildly retarded" criteria and go somewhere else. That way their potential spot opens up for more rational people.

I just called and they said later this week or early next week they will be sending out their batches of decisions... so the waiting game continues...

I hope so, they're keeping my hopes up with that "complete/will send decision by April 1"

I got an online notification of acceptance on the 20th. The packet is said to be arriving in mail shortly.

My application was considered formally completed at the 15th.

Just throwing it out there for those still waiting; I might be an outlier.
