I am also 11/22. I did not apply for Rothman (figured it was a waste of my time, no matter how awesome I know I am).maglialoro wrote:glitter178 wrote:Arbiter... Let us know if you call... Are you IR 11/22 like me?
I am also on 11/22. Are all the 11/22 IR's Rothman invites?
I will cal in like 10 minutes because I'm sick of waiting and figure it can't hurt.

Re: USC 2011
Called. Completely useless. There is no intermediary stage after in review. Apparently after the committee makes a recommendation, the dean reviews all applications and makes the final decision. All they would say is they'd be done by May. Very obviously giving a stock answer for largely clueless applicants. Apparently we're grouped according to competitiveness of app.

Geez...well if they really make us wait until May, I know where I'll most likely be putting an initial seat deposit at in April then. Not that I really have much of a chance at USCglitter178 wrote:Arbiter213 wrote:Called. Completely useless. There is no intermediary stage after in review. I don't think they can wait till may unless they waitlist us. I have to respond to at least two schools by April 1

FWIW my friend who ultimately went elsewhere last year didn't hear from USC until really late. April/May time frame and was WL'd.Redsgomarchingon wrote:I don't think they can wait till may unless they waitlist us. I have to respond to at least two schools by April 1

A friend of mine was rejected in May. I think she applied in early January.queenlizzie13 wrote:FWIW my friend who ultimately went elsewhere last year didn't hear from USC until really late. Same here...though a semi-reverse splitter/URM. It's the URM pile, hell yeah!

Yea, it's a bit ridiculous to be honest. After a certain point, they must realize it affects the probability of well-qualified applicants accepting their offers. Maybe they have enough money to throw around scholarships, or maybe applicants opt for Vandy, UT, and UCLA, because their admissions staff are far more responsive and treated them better.

Re: USC 2011
Add to that the scholarships you'd potentially have to turn down and the wasted seat deposit you might put down on another school. I don't think it would be worth it for anyone with equal/potentially better options to wait past April 1stnonprofit-prophet wrote:Redsgomarchingon wrote:that's very inconsiderate...queenlizzie13 wrote:FWIW my friend who ultimately went elsewhere last year didn't hear from USC until really late. Are review dates indicative of this grouping, or speed of review, or is this completely arbitrary you think?Arbiter213 wrote:Called. Completely useless. I came to believe date of review has to do with grouping, largely due to the connection between 11/22 and Rothman invites. She also said Rothman was completely separate and had 0 effect on admissions.PomasThynchon wrote:Are review dates indicative of this grouping, or speed of review, or is this completely arbitrary you think?Arbiter213 wrote:Called. I am with you guys, and I am happy to hear that there are others who wondered if maybe USC just kind of lost their application. Who else is riding the 11/22 train?Arbiter213 wrote:+1Burgstaller04 wrote:amen brother.mr_toad wrote:Then am glad to be 11/22 (Philly's group, I think).

Well then here's hoping the review dates of 1/19 and 1/26 are probable admits!Arbiter213 wrote:I came to believe date of review has to do with grouping, largely due to the connection between 11/22 and Rothman invites.
