Also, does anyone know if they show Reds on TV up in Bloomington?
They're on here in Nashville quite a bit, so I figure as much. Not that I'm sure that I want to pay for cable anyway... MLB.com audio works fine.

Hey, I'm new to the thread. Just was accepted a few minutes ago via e-mail. Forgive me, I'm sure this question has been answered already but I read several pages back and couldn't find the answer. Is scholarship $$ included in the packet or would they have mentioned any $$ in the acceptance e-mail? Thanks!

In my acceptance packet they mentioned the scholarship in the second graf.. I don't think any money was discussed in any of the e-mails since, though.zla2014 wrote:Hey, I'm new to the thread. Same. IU-B seems pretty good about giving you all of your info at once. I'd expect any scholarship info in the package that is/was mailed to you.chrisnashville wrote:In my acceptance packet they mentioned the scholarship in the second graf.. Thank you both for your quick responses! I'm on cloud nine over this acceptance!

I will be paying through the nose for online access to Nats, Caps, Wizards, and Ravens games. These are indeed necessary expenses!chrisnashville wrote:Also, does anyone know if they show Reds on TV up in Bloomington? They're on here in Nashville quite a bit, so I figure as much. Anyone get a call today asking about deferring until next year from admissions? I know their class is full, but I'm hoping that they won't get forceful about it later or hat this could mean bad things for I-UB 2014. What do y'all think?

Re: IU Bloomington Class of 2014
I got the call. They offered $10,000 more per year to defer until next year. Not sure if it's worth it. I'm sure I can make more than $30,000 plus whatever interest would accrue over the lifetime of the loans in my first year out of law school...

Not everyone is getting these calls, and they definitely won't be forceful about it so no worries there. Last year's class was about 220 (as always, I'm happy to stand corrected here!) and this year's class is 205. They were shooting for ~180 to make up for the exceptionally large class last year but ours isn't so large that they'll force anyone to defer, especially since it's after April 1st and many people may have turned down other offers by now....No need to worry about this, seriously.
If you do get the offer though and want a few thousand more dollars off your bill- go for it. For students just getting out of college, it could definitely be worth it to get some professional experience before going to law school...Plus, you may actually have a shot at finding decent housing if you wait until next year

Congrats, zla!!
I do find it super weird they are asking people to defer and still giving out acceptances. How does that make sense? (although looks like zla has a very high GPA so maybe they're trying to offset all the splitter love they gave at first?)

Re: IU Bloomington Class of 2014
I got an email asking if I'd like to defer as well. Probably because I am overseas. Not sure what to do at this point, really want to start this fall, but I was also planning to do the dual-degree program, maybe I can get into that now...brokenwindows wrote:I see...I already put in a letter of resignation at my job so for us it's too late. I guess we sounded like we could defer. Oh well, the scholarship is still pretty amazing. I'm sure others must've felt the same. Thanks for the vote of confidence.I was getting a little worried that they might be worried that husband was not a sure thing (i.e. Not being able to hack it)

Thanks! I think this is likely, although I do have some interesting softs, I am a pretty extreme reverse-splitter. Also non-URMstlisforlovers wrote:Congrats, zla!!

Re: IU Bloomington Class of 2014
Congrats to all those new individuals that were accepted....I'm guessing they are trying to get a few of their high LSAT splitters to defer and are bringing in high GPA's as they probably did some number crunching and didn't like what they were seeing. Or maybe they have other logic behind this. Congrats again!
