Yes, which defeats the purpose of this "held" business, but that's the game we play. For whatever reason, I have a hard time believing they would outright reject people who had JR1s and if they were going to waitlist us, why not send us all that "hold" email? I don't want to get other people's hopes up, but my inclination is to think it was a good sign for pre-Thanksgiving JR1 people to NOT get a "hold" email today. I have nothing concrete on which to base that assumption, though, so don't hold me to it.babaghanouj wrote:Yeah, but didn't KB tell someone around here that they would be waitlisting and rejecting a lot earlier this year since it was such a mistake to put that off last cycle?

No hold email here either. I'm going to brace myself for a rejection so that it won't be too shocking if one comes.

Early Nov JR1 here - No Hold e-mail today. No news = no news ...Not going to overthink it.
I really hope that I don't get waitlisted & rejected before Harvard sees the 174 I just got for them in Dec though.

Mid-Nov JR1, no hold email. I think no news = good news (wishful thinking
). But seriously, logic leads me to think that we're in good shape.

Mid-December JR1 here, (completed early October). Josh said all early completes will get a decision by mid-January, right?

Doesn't seem like it. There also haven't been any acceptances since 12/21...

So there are some more holds going out today, but it seems to be a smaller batch than yesterday since only one person has reported getting one today.PapantlaFlyer wrote:I just got a hold email about 15min ago. Applied late september. I'm not expecting to get into HLS so I'm not gonna feel any better until the rejection emails start coming out; if I make it through the first wave of rejections, then I'll feel better. It's not very comforting to hear that people with auto-reject numbers are getting held.Core wrote:Any holds today? Hopefully they don't send out another batch anytime soon.

no hold email for me. I think/guess/hope that's a good thing but I really have no idea. if nothing else, I'd imagine it means we'll be hearing back sooner than those who got held, which in itself seems like a gift (whether or not the news we get is great). I think some of us are gonna be hitting the 4 month mark pretty soon

So, as a mid-October applicant and mid-November JR1 participant, if a hold were to come, it wouldn't have been in these first two batches. Great.
Congrats to you, though, Crack. Not getting held today or yesterday is definitely a great sign for you.

Re: Harvard JR1 but no JR2 (yet?) Club
Wow, so I am normally pretty skeptical of people who have stories like this, but I swear this actually happened to me.
About an hour ago, I was busy replacing the windshield wipers on my car when my phone rang. I saw (617) as the area code and started trembling a little, thinking about what I was going to say. I answered and it was the Democratic National Committee (DNC) asking me for some $$$.
It was awful.

You'd better get in! I'm already really annoyed that you didn't get a JR2 soon after your JR1.GargamelITT wrote:no hold email for me.
